Used to move liquids in food, beverage, dairy, and cosmetic lines, these pumps are powered by air and have a sanitary design certified by 3-A. They’re also FDA compliant for direct contact with food. To prevent bacteria growth, as well as make cleaning easier, they have polished surfaces. Their housing is 316 stainless steel to stand up to harsh cleaners and sanitizers, such as those used in clean-in-place (CIP) cycles. Before starting a CIP cycle, make sure fluid chambers are empty by rotating these pumps 360° using their swivel mounting stand. Connect them to your line using gaskets and clamps to join them to sanitary quick-clamp fittings (commonly known as tri-clamp fittings); they’re easy to attach and remove for cleaning.
These diaphragm pumps transfer thick liquids containing solids from tank to tank. They’re often used for dairy products, such as yogurt, butter, and cottage cheese, as well as for creams, shampoos, and gels. All can run dry without damaging themselves and are self-priming, which means they create suction to draw liquid up and fill the pump chamber.
Pumps with a PTFE diaphragm withstand hot oils and chemicals. They’re compatible with organic oils, such as those in salad dressings and marinades.
Pumps with an EPDM diaphragm have better suction and last longer than pumps with a PTFE diaphragm since they’re more elastic. They work with body scrubs, chocolate, liquid sugar, and other liquids that contain abrasives. However, they’re not for use with organic oils and animal fats.
