Also known as Tap-Flex screws, these are made from hardened steel to penetrate hard material. They have a five-edged shank that presses tightly against the material to form threads and resist loosening. A hex head allows for a secure grip with a wrench and a flange reduces the risk of crushing thin metal. They create machine screw threads in drilled holes for a tight, vibration-resistant assembly. Made from steel, they are coated to resist corrosion in wet environments. Length is measured from under the flange.
