Use these metric washers to evenly distribute the load under bolt or screw heads and nuts when fastening. They can also act as spacers.
Stainless steel washers are more corrosion resistant than steel washers, and almost as strong. 18-8 and 17-7 PH stainless steel washers will hold up in humid, damp, and washdown environments, but will corrode if exposed to salt water or chemicals.More corrosion resistant than 18-8 and 17-7 PH stainless steel, 316 stainless steel washers will not corrode from salt water, chlorine solutions, and chemicals.
Steel washers are stronger and more wear resistant than stainless steel washers. Zinc-plated steel washers have an outer layer of zinc that protects the inner steel from rust and extends the life of the washer. Although they are stronger and more wear resistant than stainless steel, they are not as corrosion resistant. Use them in wet environments, but avoid contact with salt water and chemicals. Zinc-aluminum coated and black ultra-corrosion-resistant coated steel washers have the same level of corrosion resistance—both resist corrosion from chemicals and withstand 1,000 hours of salt spray.
At one-third the weight of steel, aluminum washers are the lightest option. They will not rust in wet environments.
In addition to resisting rust in wet environments, copper and brass washers are electrically conductive.
Washers that meet ISO 7089, 7091, and 7092 (formerly DIN 125, 126, and 433), meet international standards for fastener dimensions.

Compared to our general purpose washers, these have exaggerated diameters and/or thicknesses. Use them to cover oversized holes, hold heavy fastening loads, or as spacers and levelers.
These washers meet various DIN and ISO specifications, which are international standards for washer dimensions. ISO 8738 is formerly DIN 1440.ISO 7093 is formerly DIN 9021.
Plain steel washers are stronger, more wear resistant, and less costly than zinc-plated steel and stainless steel washers. They should not be used in wet or corrosive environments because they easily rust. Zinc-plated steel washers have an outer layer of zinc that prevents the steel from rusting in wet areas. Compared to stainless steel, they're stronger, more wear resistant, and less costly, but not as corrosion resistant. Avoid exposing them to salt water and chemicals. Stainless steel washers are more corrosion resistant than steel washers, and almost as strong. Use them in damp and washdown applications without worrying about rust. 18-8 stainless steel and 17-7 PH stainless steel washers have similar qualities to one another, except 17-7 PH stainless steel washers are stronger. Black-oxide 18-8 stainless steel washers resist corrosion just as well as regular 18-8 stainless steel washers and have a matte-black finish. 316 stainless steel washers stand up to salt water, chlorine solutions, and other chemicals without rusting.

As you tighten a bolt, these metric washers flatten to add tension to the threaded joint and prevent loosening from small amounts of vibration. All of these washers meet a DIN or ASME standard for split lock washer dimensions.
Standard split lock washers have a left-hand helix, which means you can only use them with bolts that have right-hand threads to prevent clockwise rotation from vibration. When tightened, their uneven split ends bite into unhardened nuts and bolts for a tighter hold than curved or wave washers, but only for applications with clockwise rotation. The washers, nuts, and bolts will be deformed when untightened, so none of them can be reused. Do not use these washers on hardened surfaces.
Curved and wave split lock washers can be used with bolts that have right- or left-hand threads to prevent clockwise or counterclockwise rotation from vibration. Although they don’t grip as tight as standard split lock washers for applications with clockwise rotation, they are best for those with counterclockwise rotation. These washers retain their shape when untightened and will not damage nuts and bolts, so all can be reused. Wave washers grip tighter than curved washers because they make contact with your surface at more points. Their wave design also means they compensate for uneven surfaces and tolerance variations.
Stainless steel washers are more corrosion resistant than steel, and nearly as strong. 18-8 stainless steel washers are good for humid, damp, and washdown environments, but will corrode when exposed to salt water and other chlorine solutions. 316 stainless steel washers have the best corrosion resistance. They stand up to wet environments, just like 18-8 stainless steel washers, but unlike 18-8 stainless steel, they resist corrosion caused by salt water, chlorine solutions, and chemicals.
Use zinc-plated and yellow zinc-plated steel washers in mostly dry environments. The zinc plating offers temporary rust protection, but once it wears away the steel will rust. All of these washers are stronger and more wear resistant than stainless steel.
Steel washers are stronger and more wear resistant than zinc-plated steel and stainless steel. Use them in dry environments because they will rust in wet and corrosive environments.

Teeth on the outside edge of these washers bite into the screw head and joint for a tight grip. Use with fasteners that have heads large enough to make contact with the teeth, such as pan, button, and binding head screws.

Internal teeth dig into the screw head while the smooth outside edge won't snag objects. These washers provide greater vibration resistance than split lock washers. Use with fasteners that have small heads, such as fillister and cheese head screws.

These washers have smaller outside diameters than standard spring lock washers to fit neatly under socket head cap screws. Also known as conical washers, these have a slightly cupped shape that gives them spring-like flexibility to grip tighter than split and tooth lock washers. They minimize loosening from wear, temperature changes, and vibration. Serrations on the top and bottom provide extra gripping power. Load-rated Belleville disc springs are also available.
18-8 stainless steel washers have good chemical resistance and may be mildly magnetic.
For technical drawings and 3-D models, click on a part number.
The arched shape of these washers presses up against a bolt and down against a nut to prevent loosening from wear, vibration, or temperature changes. Similar to a spring, they flatten out as pressure is applied, helping to absorb shocks. They grip bolts more tightly than split and tooth lock washers. Unlike split lock washers, which can only be tightened in one direction, these washers have a continuous body that can rotate in either direction.
Conical and curved washers are functionally the same, and are often referenced using their DIN specifications. These DIN specifications refer to slight differences in OD and thickness. DIN 6796 is the standard for conical spring lock washers, which are also known as Belleville washers.
Steel washers are stronger and more wear resistant than zinc-plated steel and stainless steel. They are best for dry environments, since moisture will cause them to rust. Zinc-plated washers have an outer layer of zinc that protects the inner steel from rust and extends the life of the washer. Similar to zinc plating, washers with a black phosphate coating are protected from rust in wet environments. They have a black finish that blends in with dark surfaces.
Stainless steel washers are more corrosion resistant than steel, and almost as strong. 18-8 stainless steel washers will hold up in wet and humid environments, but will corrode if exposed to salt water or chemicals. 316 stainless steel washers are the most corrosion resistant, and will not corrode from water, salt, or chemicals.

Designed for use with bearing nuts, these lock washers have a conical shape that presses like a spring against bearings, bushings, gears, and pulleys to hold them in place on your threaded shaft or spindle. They also have an inner tab that sits in the shaft or spindle’s keyway to prevent the nut from loosening. Made of steel, they’re strong and flexible.

Bend the tab of these metric lock washers against the flats of a hex nut or bolt head to prevent the fastener and washer from turning and loosening due to vibration, wear, or changes in temperature. Their partial cone shape gives these washers spring-like flexibility, so they distribute force and grip tighter than split and tooth lock washers. All meet DIN 432, an international standard for tab washer dimensions.
