    About Wire and Cable
    industrial info icon

Compare wire vs. cable and choose the right option based on gauge, number of conductors, insulation, and current rating.

    Access Control Cable

Wire multiple components in your security system using a single cable. This cable bundles together four color-coded cables that correspond to each part of an access point: the card reader, the door contact, the lock, and the exit sign. Each interior cable is labeled with the component it matches. All four interior cables have a layer of foil around them to prevent signal interference from nearby devices. Designated CMP, it has a flame-resistant, low-smoke insulation and can be used without conduit in duct work and above a drop ceiling. It’s also known as plenum cable. It’s rated FT6, so it meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames and smoke based on a timed test with material mounted to a horizontal tray.

    Continuous-Flex Control Cable

Image of Product. Front orientation. Control Cable. Continuous-Flex Control Cable, Unshielded.

    Unshielded

Even after millions of flex cycles, this cable transmits reliable signals. Its finely stranded conductors are twisted together like a rope to resist wear from constant bending. Use it in moving equipment such as cable carriers.
Unshielded—Choose unshielded wires when electromagnetic interference (EMI) isn't a concern. Equipment such as motors and pumps may have voltage fluctuations and current spikes that distort signals.

    Abrasion-Resistant Continuous-Flex Control Cable

Image of Product. Front orientation. Control Cable. Abrasion-Resistant Continuous-Flex Control Cable, Unshielded.

    Unshielded

Prevent wear and tear in rough areas and conditions. Unlike other continuous-flex control cables, the rugged polyurethane jacket on this cable protects against abrasion as well as exposure to chemicals, oil, and moisture. It’s often used in cable carriers in high-production CNC machines that need reliable signals for millions of flex cycles. Its finely stranded conductors are twisted together like a rope to resist wear from constant bending.
Unshielded—Choose unshielded wires when electromagnetic interference (EMI) isn't a concern. Equipment such as motors and pumps may have voltage fluctuations and current spikes that distort signals.

    High-Temperature Power Cable

Image of Product. Front orientation. Power Cable. High-Temperature Power Cable, Shielded.

    Shielded

When others can't take the heat, this cable delivers power in ovens, furnaces, steel mills, and foundries. The PTFE jacket won't degrade and weaken as temperatures rise. It also resists abrasion, chemicals, oil, and moisture.
Shielded—Shielding stops these cables from acting as antennas that emit electromagnetic interference, which could disrupt nearby equipment such as control or data cables.

    Profinet Cable

Image of Product. Front orientation. Profinet Cable. Double Shielded.

    Double Shielded

Connect devices such as sensors, programmable logic controllers, and actuators to an automated network. Choose the communication standard that matches your existing network.
Flexible—Flexible cable bends easily, but is not meant to be in constant motion.
Continuous Flex—Use continuous-flex cable in automated applications that require continuous motion, such as robotics.
Double Shielded—Double shielded cable has a layer of braid and foil shielding for better protection against signal interference than foil alone. Use it in environments with high signal distortion, such as near transformers, generators, and heavy duty motors.
PVC Outer Jacket—Choose cable with PVC outer jacket for general purpose indoor applications. Its protective layer resists abrasion, though it contains halogen. It’s also less flexible than cable with TPE outer jacket.
TPE Outer Jacket—Cable with TPE outer jacket has a protective layer that is more flexible and resists abrasion better than other materials. It also stands up to extreme temperatures and chemicals, making it good for use in harsh outdoor environments.
UL 2556 FT4—Flame rated cable meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test. FT4 cable is mounted to a vertical tray during testing.
UL 2556 VW-1—Flame rated cable meets requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test. VW-1 cable is suspended vertically during testing.

    High-Voltage Continuous-Flex Flat Power Cable

Image of Product. Front orientation. Power Cable. High-Voltage Continuous-Flex Flat Power Cable.
For high-voltage systems with constant motion, this cable flexes without breaking. Its thick silicone rubber jacket insulates against high voltage and resists chemicals, oil, moisture, and UV rays. The jacket also has a low-smoke, zero-halogen (LSZH) design to prevent toxic emissions if there’s a fire.
