About Wire and Cable

Building Wire
- Use for buildings
- Stranded Wire: Flexible
Solid Wire: Bend and Stay - Temperature Range:
Wire with Nylon Outer Insulation: -10° to 190° F
Wire with Polyethylene Outer Insulation: -40° to 190° F
Install this wire in conduit and cable trays in commercial and industrial buildings. It's also known as branch circuit wire.
Stranded wire is flexible, so it’s pliable enough to be pulled around corners. Wire with a nylon outer insulation resists oil and water. THHN wire can be used in dry or damp locations where wire is exposed to condensation or moisture, such as a basement. THWN and THWN-2 wire can be used in both wet and dry environments.

Battery Wire

- Use for vehicles
- 60V DC Wire: Flexible
600V AC/DC: Ultra Flexible - Temperature Range: -40° to 190° F
Connect batteries in vehicles and generators.
Strand count is the number of strands followed by the size of the individual strand.
Wire with a PVC plastic insulation resists fuel and oil.
Wire with an EPDM rubber insulation is ultra-flexible for use in applications that require tight turns. The insulation resists abrasion and oil.
SAE J1128 and SAE J1127 wire meet standards for low-voltage wiring in vehicle electrical systems.

Outdoor Wire

- Use for outdoors, buildings, power supply
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: -55° to 220° F
- Insulation: EPDM Rubber
Protected by an EPDM insulation that resists UV light, water, abrasion, and oil, this wire is often used outdoors in lighting and generators. It’s flame rated FT5 to meet requirements for preventing the spread of flames based on a timed test with material that is horizontally suspended and heated before being exposed to flame.
Welding Cable

- Use For: Welding
- 600V AC: Bend and Stay
600V AC/DC: Flexible - Temperature Range: -55° to 220° F
- Insulation: EPDM Rubber
This cable withstands abrasion, oil, and the rough conditions found in welding applications. It’s flame rated VW-1 to meet requirements for vertical flame testing.
Class K cable is for general purpose welding applications. It bends and stays in the position that you bend it.
Class M cable is more flexible and durable than Class K cable.
Flame-Resistant Welding Cable

- Use For: Outdoors, Welding
- Flexible
- Temperature Range: -55° to 190° F
- Insulation: Polyethylene Plastic
This cable meets Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards for flame resistance. It’s also flame rated VW-1 to meet requirements for preventing the spread of flames, based on a timed test with vertically suspended material. The insulation resists abrasion and chemicals.

Jumper Cables

These cables have thick wires for a fast start on large trucks and industrial vehicles. The clamps are color-coded black (negative) and red (positive).
