Metric Steel Hex Head Screws for Wood

Drive the pointed tip of these screws into soft material, such as wood and drywall. They are also known as lag bolts. Made from steel, they are strong and wear resistant, and have a zinc plating to protect the steel from rust in wet environments. The hex head provides a secure grip for wrenches, so you can tighten them in place. They meet DIN 571, which is an international standard for the dimensions of wood screws.
Drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw to avoid splitting shorter boards. Screws with larger diameters are more likely to split your wood.
