These steel screws are zinc plated to resist corrosion in wet environments. All are beveled under the head for use in countersunk holes. They press threads into material for a tight, secure hold. To prevent splitting, drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw. Length is measured from the top of the head.

Brass screws are corrosion resistant in wet environments, electrically conductive, and nonmagnetic. All are beveled under the head for use in countersunk holes. They press threads into material for a tight, secure hold. To prevent splitting, drill a pilot hole slightly smaller than the screw. Length is measured from the top of the head.

18-8 stainless steel screws have good chemical resistance and are a good choice for ACQ-treated (arsenic-free) lumber. They are beveled under the head for use in countersunk holes. They penetrate plywood and oriented strand board (OSB) without splitting. Threads are serrated for lower driving torque. Screws may be mildly magnetic. Length is measured from the top of the head.

Beveled under the head for use in countersunk holes. Sharp, angled threads cut into particleboard, medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and hardboard such as masonite without splitting. Length is measured from the top of the head.
Black-oxide steel screws are mildly corrosion resistant in dry environments.

18-8 stainless steel screws have good chemical resistance and are a good choice for ACQ-treated (arsenic-free) lumber. Also known as trim-head deck screws, they have a small flat head and slender shank to reduce the risk of splitting. The Type 17 auger point and narrow body penetrate softwood and plastic-wood composite decking material. They cut threads into drilled holes as they’re turned, so they require less driving torque and cause less stress on material than thread-forming screws. Screws may be mildly magnetic. Length is measured from the top of the head.
