Reamers for Hole Alignment

Enlarge holes to correct misalignment and overlap. Misaligned holes often have a narrow entry, so the tapered shape is easier to insert and makes more contact to remove the overlapping material. These are also known as bridge and car reamers.

Depth Limiting

These reamers fit in the chuck of drill presses, turret lathes, and other machine and power tools, making them the most common shank type.

Spiral Flute—Since these reamers clear chips better than straight flutes, they leave holes with a smoother finish. They're better for holes with breaks in the surface, such as a keyway, because they cut continuously across the breaks instead of moving in and out.

High-Speed Steel—Durable and wear resistant, these are good for general purpose reaming in most materials.

Left-Hand Spiral—These reamers push chips downward as they cut, so they're often used in through holes.

Depth Limiting—A collar on the shank prevents these reamers from going too deep into material, protecting your tool's chuck from damage.

Short Length—About 2" shorter than standard-length reamers of similar thicknesses, these give you room to maneuver in tight spaces.

Adjustable Size, Square Shank

Angled Blade

One tool both finishes multiple diameters and enlarges holes to correct misalignment and overlap. Also known as bridge and car reamers, they have a tapered shape that fits into the narrow entry of misaligned holes and makes more contact to remove the overlapping material. Change the reamer size by moving the adjustable blades within the diameter range.

Move the blades by tightening and loosening the two nuts on the reamer. To measure size, adjust blades to a known size (such as a bushing or ring), or measure across two opposite blades with a micrometer. When the blades become worn, they can be reground or replaced.

Turn these reamers by hand with an adjustable wrench or straight-handle tap wrench (sold separately).

Angled Blade—These reamers are better than those with straight blades for finishing holes with breaks in the surface, such as a keyway.

Tool Steel—Typically more economical but less durable than high-speed steel, these are for general purpose reaming.

Long Reach—Align holes spaced far apart with reamers that have a long, built-in pilot. A floating sleeve guides and steadies the pilot through holes.

Impact Wrench Reamers for Hole Alignment

Driven by the high torque of an impact wrench, these reamers enlarge holes to correct misalignment and overlap faster than with a power drill. The tapered shape fits into narrow holes and makes more contact than straight reamers when removing material. Also known as bridge and car reamers.

Hex Shank

The shank fits hex impact sockets, so you can use an impact wrench to both ream the hole and install a fastener.

Helix Flute—Prevent clogging when removing excess material with helix flutes. They also leave a smoother finish than straight flutes.

VersaDrive Hex Shank

Spiral Flute

All VersaDrive tools have the same hex shank, so you need only one chuck (sold separately) to fit them into your impact wrench. This lets you quickly switch from your reamer to a drill bit, tap, or any other cutting tool you need to complete the next job. For jobs that don’t require the torque of an impact tool, you can also fit these reamers directly into a _1/2" chuck on a standard power drill.

Do not use these reamers on holes that were flame or plasma cut.

Titanium Nitride (TiN)-Coated Hardened High-Speed Steel—Coated to create less friction than uncoated high-speed steel reamers, these run faster and last twice as long. They’re also hardened for increased wear resistance, making them good for cutting hard metals.

Left-Hand Spiral—These reamers push chips downward as they cut, so they're often used in through holes.

These chucks mount directly onto the square drive of your impact wrench. They work with any tool with a VersaDrive hex shank, so you don’t need to swap chucks to use drill bits, taps, and other tools.

While impact wrenches give you the most torque of any power tool, we also have chucks for impact drivers and magnetic-base drills if you want to use other tools.

Quick-Change Pull-Back Tool Release—Require just one hand to load. Push your tool in the chuck until you hear the ball detents click into place. To remove your tool, pull back the collar.

Strong-Hold Push-Forward Tool Release—Hold cutting tools more securely than quick-change chucks. To insert and remove cutting tools, you must push a collar forward. Since impact force drives your cutting tool the opposite way, it can’t come loose from the chuck while you work.

Manganese Phosphate-Coated Steel—The coating on these chucks prevents rust.

Impact Wrench Reamer Sets for Hole Alignment

Driven by the high torque of an impact wrench, the reamers in these sets enlarge holes of various diameters to correct misalignment and overlap faster than with a power drill. The tapered shape fits into narrow holes and makes more contact than straight reamers when removing material. Also known as bridge and car reamers.

Impact Wrench Step Reamer Drill Bit Sets

Drill, enlarge, and finish a wide range of hole sizes in seconds with just three bits. Made with an oversized shank and hardened high-speed steel, the bits in these sets are built to handle the high torque of your impact wrench without snapping. A built-in pilot has a stepped tip that bites material immediately, centers the tool, and prevents slipping. The steps on the bit have progressively larger diameters—the deeper you drill, the bigger the hole. Count the steps as you drill to achieve the proper size. Like a reamer, these bits leave a smooth, precise hole at each step. If you’re drilling to the bit’s maximum diameter, a safety collar stops the bit at that size. Since these bits deburr as they cut, they’re often used for thin workpieces, such as sheet metal and plastic panels.

You’ll need a VersaDrive chuck (sold separately) to install these bits into your impact wrench. You can also get chucks for impact drivers and magnetic-base drills (both sold separately). For jobs that don’t require the torque of an impact tool, you can fit these bits directly into a _1/2" chuck on a standard power drill.

Round-Shank Reamer Drill Bits

Drill and finish holes in a single pass with these dual-purpose tools. The tapered tip gradually pierces your material to reduce friction, and the straight flutes make clean cuts without chipping or peeling the edge of the hole. Made from solid carbide, these reamer drill bits are strong and heat resistant. The flutes stay sharp even when cutting abrasive materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and graphite. Use them in drill presses or other machines—carbide is brittle, and will break if used to drill by hand.
