Nonsparking Marking Punches
Made of aluminum-bronze that is Factory Mutual approved, these nonmagnetic, corrosion-resistant tools inhibit sparking. Also known as center punches, strike these with a hammer to mark hole centers in metal and other materials. Use before drilling to prevent your drill bit from wandering when starting a hole.
They satisfy OSHA requirements that specify nonsparking tools for locations where flammable vapors and combustible residues are present. Nonsparking tools are not, however, classified as antistatic because they do conduct electricity.
Note: Do not use these tools in direct contact with acetylene due to the possible risk of explosion.

Ground to a sharper tip than other center-marking punches, these tools make the precision marks required for the intersection of lines and other detailed tasks. They're also known as prick punches. Tap lightly with a small hammer.
