Spiral-Wound Cartridge Sanding Rolls

Taper

As the outer layer wears away, new abrasive is exposed. A shank adapter or tapered spindle with a shank is required (both sold separately). The most common abrasive material, aluminum oxide is hard enough to sand steel and wood. The diameter listed is for the large end of the roll.

Taper—Tapered rolls are for use on angles, corners, concave contours, funnel-shaped recesses, and other intricate shapes.

Grinding Cones for Straight Grinders


Style 4	Style 5

Longer lasting than grinding bits, these abrasive cones remove heavy amounts of material and leave a rough surface texture. They have a threaded insert that attaches to the spindle on a straight grinder. Use in corners and inside castings.

Caution: Use only accessories that have a greater rpm rating than the maximum speed of the grinder you choose.

Aluminum Oxide Abrasive—For use on steel, aluminum oxide is the most common abrasive used in grinding metals.

Zirconia Alumina Abrasive—For use on steel and stainless steel, zirconia alumina grinds faster and lasts longer than aluminum oxide.

Head Diameter—Head diameter is measured at the widest point.

Spiral-Wound Cartridge Sanding Rolls for Stainless Steel and Hard Metals

Taper

Coated with aluminum oxide ceramic, these rolls are sharp and dense enough to shape hard metals such as stainless steel, nickel, and cast iron without dulling quickly. The abrasive grit continually fractures to produce new, sharp cutting edges. It sands faster and lasts longer than aluminum oxide but requires more force to abrade properly. As the outer layer wears away, new abrasive is exposed. A shank adapter is required (sold separately).
