Circuit Board Coolers

Also known as thermal pads and thermal interface pads, these heat-dissipating pads pull heat away from electronic components. They’re often used to fill gaps between two surfaces that require thermal contact. All meet UL 94 V-0 for flame retardance.

Thermoelectric Modules

Cool down enclosures, laser and optical equipment, and other small devices to maintain their ideal temperature. An electrical current transfers heat from one side of these modules—also known as Peltier modules—to the other. This means the side closest to your equipment stays cold.
Unlike fans and other coolers, these modules don’t have moving parts that require maintenance. They also don’t rely on moving air for cooling, so you can use them in sealed areas, like refrigerators. Compact, they fit in crowded enclosures and other tight spaces. Their flat sides mean you can attach an adhesive-mount heat sink to draw excess heat away from them.
To control these modules, connect their wire leads to a power source and thermostat or switch. You can even alter them for use in heating applications—just reverse the polarity of the DC voltage to switch their hot and cold sides.
Qmax describes the maximum thermal energy these modules can transfer. Delta Tmax refers to the maximum temperature difference between the hot and cold sides. Change the input voltage to adjust this difference in temperature.

Hard-Hat Cooling Pads
Keep a cool head when you’re wearing a hard hat. These cooling pads attach to a hard-hat suspension with hook and loop straps.
Pads with arc-flash protection minimize burns from sudden electrical flashes. These pads meet NFPA 70E standards for protecting against electrical arc flashes. Choose a cooling pad that meets the arc rated personal protective equipment (PPE) category required by your workplace.
Pads with neck coverage give you extra protection from the sun.
PET pads can be soaked in cold water for 1-3 minutes to cool you for your entire shift. They’re machine washable. Cotton pads have crystals that absorb water to relieve heat using evaporation. Soak them in cold water for 15-20 minutes to keep you cool for 4 hours. Polyester pads only require you to run water over them for about a minute to keep you cool for 4 hours. They’re fluorescent yellow, so you’re easy to spot in all lighting conditions. Machine wash them when necessary.

Cooling Hard Hats

Stay cool and protect your head—a reflective barrier in these hard hats lowers the temperature by 20 degrees. A full brim runs around the hat to shield your head and neck from sun, rain, and glare. It offers 12% more coverage than the brim on a standard full brim hat, providing additional protection from the elements. A built-in sweatband keeps perspiration out of your eyes, even if you sweat.
Type I hard hats protect against blows to the top of the head only. A foam shell absorbs impact, reducing force on the neck and head. To fit the hard hat snugly to your head, turn a knob on the back that tightens the suspension. The reversible suspension lets you turn the hat around without taking it off. For example, spin the hat to move a face shield out of the way or turn the hat to fit in a tight space. You can also add attachments such as face shields or earmuffs to the mounting slots on the hat.
Class C hard hats have not been tested for electrical protection. Class E hard hats insulate from electrical shocks and are often used near overhead power lines and high-voltage equipment. They’re tested at 20,000 volts.
Hard hats with ventilation holes add another way to stay cool by letting air circulate.

Mobile Evaporative Air Coolers

Also known as swamp coolers, use these air coolers wherever air conditioning is impractical. They take in water, which soaks into pads. When air is blown through the wet pads, the evaporation produces cool air. These air coolers have a direct-drive motor, which has fewer moving parts than belt-drive motors for less maintenance. All have a NEMA 5-15 plug, which is a standard three-prong plug.

High-Output Mobile Evaporative Air Coolers

Produce twice as much cool air as standard mobile evaporative air coolers. Also known as swamp coolers, use these air coolers wherever air conditioning is impractical. They take in water, which soaks into pads. When air is blown through the wet pads, the evaporation produces cool air.
Replacement pads are sold separately.

Hot and Cold Packs

Cold and Hot Packs—Squeeze to break the inner bag for instant activation.
Reusable Hot/Cold Pack—For cold, freeze for one hour. For heat, microwave for 50 seconds or place in boiling water for two minutes.
Ice Packs

Durable and reusable, these packs are less messy and keep contents colder longer than ice. Often used with beverages and food, they keep things cold but not frozen. All flex to wrap around objects and fit into tight spaces. The packs consist of smaller cubes that can be cut apart and used individually.
