    Place a cutoff blade into a holder to keep it firmly in place in a lathe's tool post. A set screw secures the blade into the holder. Use holders with wedge-shaped cutoff blades (sold separately) that have dimensions that correspond to the holder’s capacity.

    Cut down lathe downtime. Rather than removing and replacing an insert while your lathe is stopped, just swap out these cartridges and get right back to work. While one cartridge is in use, you can replace the insert in another, so a fresh cutting tool is always ready to go. These cartridges connect to your lathe with a quick-change cartridge holder (sold separately). All components are coolant-through compatible. They have a hole that delivers coolant from your lathe onto the workpiece to minimize heat.
    Choose a holder with the same cut type as your cartridge. These holders slot directly into your lathe tool post or mount in a tool holder.

    Choose inserts with a thickness that fits your holder. All have two cutting edges—when one edge dulls, switch to the other.
    For Semi-Interrupted Cutting Conditions—Inserts for semi-interrupted cutting conditions are used to machine imperfectly round workpieces, such as shafts with a keyway. They’re the most common type of insert.
    For Interrupted Cutting Conditions—Inserts for interrupted cutting conditions are best for workpieces that will come in and out of contact with the insert, such as hex bars.
    Bent Nose and Square Nose—Bent or square nose inserts are best for cutting grooves with square corners or for slicing through a workpiece.
    Round Nose—Round nose inserts are used to create smooth, rounded grooves, or to contour a workpiece.
    Individual—Inserts sold individually come packed in a clear plastic case to protect cutting edges during shipment.
    Package—Inserts sold in packs come factory sealed from the manufacturer for maximum traceability.
