Shaped Norton Toolroom Grinding Wheels for Metals

The special shapes of these wheels provide more clearance than typical straight wheels.
38A white wheels are for light material removal. They stay cool during use, so they're a good choice for heat-sensitive applications. They are aluminum oxide, which is the most common abrasive used in grinding metal.
32A purple wheels are for medium to heavy material removal. They are aluminum oxide.
32AA purple wheels are for medium to heavy material removal. They are a blend of aluminum oxide and ceramic aluminum oxide, which lasts up to twice as long as 32A wheels.
5SG blue wheels are for heavy material removal. They are ceramic aluminum oxide, which lasts up to five times as long as 32A wheels.
Caution: Use only accessories that have a greater rpm rating than the maximum speed of the grinder you choose.

Heavy-Removal Grinding Wheels for Angle Grinders—Use on Metals

A large grinding surface, combined with a thick layer of rough abrasive removes more material than other wheels. They are also known as Type 11 wheels, flared-cup wheels, snagging wheels, and cup stones.
Wheels are often used to grind weld seams and remove flaws from castings. The full backing provides additional support.
Wheels for steel are aluminum oxide, which is the most common abrasive used in grinding metal.
Wheels for steel and stainless steel are zirconia alumina, which grinds faster and lasts longer than aluminum oxide.
Caution: Use only accessories that have a greater rpm rating than the maximum speed of the grinder you choose.

Heavy-Removal Grinding Wheels for Angle Grinders—Use on Nonmetals

Wheels have a large surface area and a thick layer of rough abrasive for heavy material removal on concrete and stone. They are also known as Type 11 wheels, flared-cup wheels, snagging wheels, and cup stones.
Wheels are silicon carbide, which won't generate much heat. The full backing provides additional support.
Caution: Use only accessories that have a greater rpm rating than the maximum speed of the grinder you choose.
