Style A | Style B |
Smooth surfaces, reduce thickness, and chamfer edges on workpieces. These planes have an adjustable blade, so you can change the depth or length of your cuts.
Style A—Style A planes are also known as block planes. Their low cutting angle slices through wood more easily than bench planes, but can tear wood along the grain. They're best for planing across the grain.
Style B—Style B planes are also known as bench planes. Use them to plane along the wood grain.

These filing planes use replaceable blades to smooth and shape wood, metal, plaster, and plastic surfaces.
Style A—The curved blade and backward stroke let you shape concave and contoured surfaces. Pull the tool toward you for better control on irregular profiles.
Style B—A flat blade with a forward stroke for aggressive material removal on broad, flat areas.
Style C—Style C works in corners.
Curved Blade—Curved blade is for contoured surfaces.
