Bi-Pin Base Miniature Light Bulbs
These bulbs are small, but very bright, so they're often used in flashlights and optical instruments such as projectors and microscopes. Brightness is measured in lumens; the higher the lumens, the brighter the bulb.
Halogen bulbs are slightly more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, but they generate more heat.

PAR bulbs have narrow beam angles that provide more focused beams of light than other floodlights. A short length allows them to fit in small can fixtures without protruding.
LED bulbs last longer and are more efficient than other technologies. They generate little heat and withstand vibration. Plastic LED bulbs are shatterproof.
CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs are more energy efficient and last longer than halogen bulbs. It takes several seconds for them to reach full brightness. They contain small amounts of mercury (for disposal information, visit www.epa.gov/cfl).
Halogen bulbs are energy efficient.

Metal Halide Light Bulbs
Illuminate large warehouses, factories, and arenas with the bright, white light of these metal halide bulbs. Brightness is measured in lumens; the higher the lumens, the brighter the bulb. Color rendering index (CRI) is a measurement on a scale of 0-100 of how accurately the light from a bulb represents an object's true colors; the higher the number, the more natural the colors appear. Any CRI value over 80 will show colors true to life. A bulb’s estimated yearly cost is based on 3 hours of usage per day at $0.11 per kWh. They cannot be sold to Canada because they exceed local regulatory limits on mercury.
Bulbs with an EX39 base number will not burst when they fail.
Pulse-start bulbs restart nearly twice as fast as probe-start bulbs.
Plastic-coated glass bulbs are shatter resistant; the coating retains glass shards if they break.

LED Light Bulbs for High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Lights
Replace high-intensity discharge (HID) lights with the longer-lasting, energy-efficient LEDs. Brightness is measured in lumens; the higher the lumens, the brighter the bulb. LED lights are perceived as brighter at night than high-intensity discharge light technologies, so they require fewer lumens to provide the same brightness. Match your old light’s wattage to find the right LED bulb. A bulb’s estimated yearly cost is based on 3 hours of usage per day at $0.11 per kWh.
Ballast bypass bulbs eliminate the need for a ballast, so the socket must be wired directly to the power source.

High-Pressure Sodium Light Bulbs
Illuminate parking lots and roads with the warm, yellow light of these high-pressure sodium bulbs. Brightness is measured in lumens; the higher the lumens, the brighter the bulb. Bulbs cannot be sold to Canada because they exceed local regulatory limits on mercury.
Non-cycling bulbs prevent damage to ballasts and starters because they remain off at the end of their service life instead of cycling on and off like other high pressure sodium bulbs.
An instant restart means you won’t have to wait the several minutes it takes other high-pressure sodium bulbs to restart.
