Find the right lumen level to brighten your space. Then, compare the way warm, neutral, and cool lighting affect the appearance of everyday objects.
Bi-Pin Base Miniature Light Bulbs
These bulbs are small, but very bright, so they're often used in flashlights and optical instruments such as projectors and microscopes. Brightness is measured in lumens; the higher the lumens, the brighter the bulb.
Halogen bulbs are slightly more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, but they generate more heat.

Bi-Pin Base Floodlight and Spotlight Bulbs

Often used in display and landscape lighting, these small bulbs produce a focused beam of light. Bulbs that are 50W or higher are often used in overhead projectors and microscopes. They’re brightest at the center of their beam angle; the edges of the beam are about half as bright. The narrower the beam, the more concentrated the light.
LED bulbs last longer and are more efficient than halogen bulbs. They generate little heat and withstand vibration. Plastic LED bulbs are shatterproof.
Bulbs with a selectable light appearance have a switch that lets you match other lights in your room.
Dim-to-warm bulbs mimic halogen bulbs—their light gets warmer as you dim them. They have museum-quality color accuracy, so colors appear as accurate and vibrant as they would in natural sunlight. They’re also flicker free and have lower levels of blue light than standard LEDs to reduce eyestrain.

Screw-In Base Floodlight and Spotlight Bulbs

Light up large areas or spotlight an object. These bulbs suit recessed cans and outdoor floodlights. Light is brightest at beam center and roughly half as bright at the edges. All are shatterproof plastic.
BR and R bulbs cast broad beams, ideal for large can fixtures. PAR bulbs throw tighter, farther-reaching spotlight beams, like those in outdoor security systems. PAR bulbs with an adjustable beam angle switch between narrow, medium, and wide flood beams.
Use the light appearance to match older bulbs in your facility. A 2,700K (warm) light appearance resembles incandescent bulbs. A 3,000K (warm) light appearance resembles halogen bulbs. If you aren't sure what you need, pick a bulb with a selectable light appearance.
Bulbs that cannot be sold to the listed areas are restricted due to energy efficiency requirements, mercury regulations, and product registration requirements.

Contact-Lug Base Floodlight and Spotlight Bulbs

Create a focused beam in displays. These bulbs are LED replacements for halogen bulbs, so they use a fraction of the energy and generate less heat. They also have museum-quality color accuracy, so colors appear as accurate and vibrant as they would in natural sunlight. The narrower the beam, the more concentrated the light. To install them, press the lugs into your socket or use the screw terminals at the base for hardwiring.

LED Light Bulbs for High-Intensity Discharge (HID) Lights

Lights and Post
Top Lights)

Change out the bulbs in your high-intensity discharge (HID) light fixture to lower energy costs. These LED bulbs last longer than other HID bulbs and achieve the same brightness with fewer lumens. They’re ballast bypass bulbs, so you can install them in a socket that’s wired directly to the power source. Match the wattage of the bulb you’re replacing.
Select a light appearance to match your existing lighting. If you’re not sure what temperature you need, choose a bulb with more than one light appearance. You can adjust the temperature with a switch.
Style A look like traditional HID bulbs, so they’re often used in decorative fixtures. Style D have a rotating base, so you can aim the beam where you need it.
Bulbs with an EX39 mogul base can also be used in E39 mogul base sockets. Add a socket adapter (sold separately) to use E26 medium base bulbs in fixtures with EX39 or E39 mogul base sockets.
Add a motion sensor to the end of a bulb to light up HID fixtures when they detect movement after dark. To make changes to the reach and sensitivity of a motion sensor, you'll need a remote control (sold separately).
Bulbs that cannot be sold to California do not meet energy efficiency regulations.
