    Thermocouple Probes for Liquids and Gases

    Made of stainless steel, these probes measure the temperature of liquids and gases without corroding. They’re also safe to use with solids, such as molds and dies, because the stainless steel acts as a shield if they’re hit or bumped. If space is tight, bend them up to 90°. They have a protective layer of magnesium oxide to keep the wiring inside the probe from kinking when they’re bent. Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your liquid, gas, or solid to be. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the device you plan to connect it to. They’re often used with temperature controllers, thermometers, and other temperature-reading devices.
    These thermocouples are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.

    Probes without a cable have a connector already attached, so they’re ready to plug into a portable thermometer for temperature-monitoring on the go. You can also connect these probes to remote devices using thermocouple extension wire with connectors.

    Wire Leads

    Probes with a cable have either a connector or wire leads to connect to devices installed nearby. Those with wire leads offer more flexibility than probes with connectors already attached because you can either wire them to a terminal block or add your own connector. For installation, note that the red wire is negative.

    Thermocouple Probes for Air and Surfaces

    Press the tips of these probes against a surface to measure its temperature or leave them untouched to measure air temperature. The tip is exposed for rapid response times. Because it’s exposed, these probes are not for use in liquids.
    Note: When installing probes with wire leads, the red wire is negative.

    Bayonet-Mount Thermocouple Probes for Surfaces

    Quick to install and remove, these probes won’t shake loose from a surface even in high-vibration environments. Twist their bayonet fitting into an adapter mounted on your surface to hold them in place. Their tip is exposed, so they can respond to rapid changes in surface temperatures but can’t be used in liquids. For accurate readings, move the fitting along the length of the cable until the tip of the probe is pressing firmly against the surface you’re measuring. To prevent wear, corrosion, and abrasion, an armored stainless steel cable protects the wiring that connects these probes to your temperature-monitoring device. This makes these probes a good choice for humid and harsh environments.
    Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your surface to be. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the device you plan to connect it to. These probes are often used with temperature controllers and thermometers.
    These probes are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.

    Probes with a cord grip are easy to secure to an enclosure or conduit box. The cord grip reduces strain on the cable when it’s pulled or twisted. You can also remove it.

    Threaded Thermocouple Probes for Liquids and Gases

    For easy installation in thermowells, tanks, pipes, and other closed vessels, these probes have a male NPT fitting. They’re stainless steel, so they won’t corrode as they measure the temperature of liquids and gases. The stainless steel acts as a shield if they’re hit or bumped, so they’re also safe to use with solids, such as molds and dies. The fitting is welded on, so you can’t adjust the probe’s length.
    Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your liquid or gas to be in. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the device you plan to connect it to. These probes are often used with temperature controllers, thermometers, and other temperature-reading devices.

    Bolt-On Thermocouple Probes for Surfaces

    Take temperature readings in high-vibration environments. These probes bolt onto motors, machines, and other equipment, so they won’t shake loose. Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your surface to be. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the device you plan to connect it to. They’re often used with temperature controllers, thermometers, and other temperature-reading devices.

    Measure air and surface temperatures in corrosive environments—an armored stainless steel cable shields the wiring on these probes from wear, abrasion, and corrosion.     To prevent wear and corrosion, an armored stainless steel cable protects the wiring that connects these probes to your temperature-monitoring device. The probes themselves are also made of stainless steel, so you don't have to worry about corrosion when you're measuring the temperature of liquids and gases. They’re also safe to use with solids, such as molds and dies, because the stainless steel acts as a shield if they’re hit or bumped. If space is tight, you can bend them up to 90°. They have a protective layer of magnesium oxide to keep the wiring inside the probe from kinking if they’re bent.

    Safe to use while measuring temperatures near flammable gases or combustible dust, these probes have an explosion-proof head that’s FM approved. They are stainless steel to resist corroding when immersed in liquids and gases. They can also be used with solids, such as molds and dies, because the stainless steel acts as a shield if they’re hit or bumped. Rated NEMA 4, these probes seal out dust and water from washdowns. A layer of magnesium oxide protects the wiring inside. To adjust the length of the probe for your application, slide the fitting up towards the probe head or down towards the tip. Once it’s in the right spot, tighten the fitting to compress it against the probe, securing it in place.

    Often used where it’d be difficult to mount a standard probe, these probes stick onto magnetic surfaces to take temperature readings. They have a magnet that holds them firmly in place on motors, bearings, and other surfaces. A spring behind the probe protects the cable from strain that could cause it to fray or break.     An economical alternative to insulated thermocouple probes, these probes measure the temperature of liquids and gases. Made of stainless steel, they resist corrosion. The stainless steel also shields the sensor from impact, so you can use them with solids, such as in molds and dies. Because there is no insulation to protect the internal wires, you should not bend these probes. They’re also known as tube-and-wire thermocouples.
    To view and store measurements, add a connector to the wire leads and connect these probes to a controller, thermometer, or other temperature-reading device.     Send temperature readings from tanks, containers, and pipes to devices such as remote displays and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) without the need for a separate thermocouple transmitter. These transmitters convert temperature to 4-20mA analog signals and connect using two wires. The same wire is used to send a signal to the receiver and to power the transmitter.     As the probe on these transmitters measures temperature, the included thermowell shields it from vibration, impacts, and shock. Made of either stainless steel or nickel, the thermowell resists corrosion when immersed in liquids or gases. It acts as a barrier, so you can replace the probe sensor without stopping flow or draining your system. For accurate readings, a spring pushes the probe tip forward, keeping the tip in constant contact with the thermowell. A layer of magnesium oxide protects the wiring inside the probe.
    These transmitters convert readings to analog signals and send them to remote displays, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other devices. Rated NEMA 4X and IP68, the head stands up to wet, dusty, and corrosive environments and even brief submersion. It has a removable cap for easy access to sensor connections.
    These transmitters are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.

    Dual-Output Thermocouple Probes for Liquids and Gases

    Send temperature readings to two separate devices—these probes, also known as duplex thermocouples, have two thermocouples inside. For example, one thermocouple might connect to a device that logs data while the other connects to a device that automates processes based on temperature. Made of stainless steel, these probes resist corroding from liquids and gases. The stainless steel also shields the sensor from impact, so you can use them with solids, such as molds and dies. If space is tight, bend them up to 90°. They have a protective layer of magnesium oxide to keep the wiring from kinking when they’re bent.
    Pick the thermocouple type that best covers the temperature range you expect your liquid, gas, or solid to be. You should also make sure the thermocouple type you choose is compatible with the devices you plan to connect it to.

    Hazardous Location Threaded Thermocouple Probes with Thermowell for Liquids and Gases

    With an FM-approved explosion-proof head, these probes are safe to use around flammable gases, vapors, and dust. The included stainless steel thermowell shields them against corrosion, shock, vibration, and impact as they measure the temperature of liquids and gases. By creating a barrier, the thermowell also lets you replace the probe sensor without stopping flow or draining your system. Rated NEMA 4, these probes seal out dust and water from washdowns. To protect the wiring inside, these probes have ceramic insulation. The NPT fitting that threads into the thermowell is welded on, so you can’t adjust the probe’s length.

    Safely measure the temperature of liquids and gases in places where flammable gases, vapors, dust, and fibers are present. The head of these transmitters is FM approved and CSA certified for use in hazardous areas. It’s also NEMA 4X and IP68 rated, so it stands up to wet and dusty environments and even brief submersion. These transmitters convert readings to analog signals and send them to devices such as remote displays and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
    To measure liquids, you’ll need to connect a thermowell or protective tube before immersing the probe in a tank or pipe. Otherwise, liquid will be sucked into the head through the fitting, which will damage the wiring. The probe can also be used to measure solids, such as molds and dies—it's made of stainless steel or nickel to shield against impacts. It also has a layer of magnesium oxide to protect the wiring inside the probe. For accurate readings, a spring inside the fitting pushes the probe tip forward, keeping it in constant contact with the surface you're measuring. The head has a removable cap for easy access to sensor connections.
    These thermocouples are manufactured to conform to ASTM E230 for accuracy. Accuracy is how far off the reported value is from the actual temperature.

    Threaded Thermocouple Probes with Thermowell for Liquids and Gases

    To prevent damage from vibration, impact, and shock, these probes come with a thermowell. It acts as a shield, allowing the probe to measure the temperature of liquids and gases without touching them. This also means you can replace the probe without stopping flow or draining your system. The thermowell is made from 304 stainless steel to resist corrosion when immersed in tanks and pipelines. Rated NEMA 4, the head seals out dust and water from washdowns.
    Ceramic insulation helps protect the wiring inside these probes. Remove the cap on the head to wire the thermocouple to your application. The NPT fitting that connects the probe to the thermowell is welded on, so you can’t adjust the probe’s length.

They have a sanitary quick-clamp connection that’s easy to disconnect for cleaning. IP65 and NEMA 4 rated, they seal out water from washdowns from top to bottom.
