Flowmeters

Check the flow rate of liquids in your system. As your liquid flows through these flowmeters, it pushes an indicator up the scale, showing you the flow rate. Mount them vertically inline with your piping system, so liquid flows up from the bottom. They’re made from acrylic, so they’re completely clear to help you inspect your liquid’s color and clarity for any problems. They also have a white backing to help you read the scale clearly.

These flowmeters are calibrated with water but can be used with other liquids except for oil. If you’re using these with a liquid other than water, you’ll need to calculate the flow rate by multiplying the number shown on the scale by the specific-gravity conversion factor for your liquid.

Flowmeters with a rectangular body are made from a single block of acrylic, so they’re more durable and resist impact better than flowmeters with a cylindrical body. However, they’re not as durable as flowmeters with a protective case.

Panel-Mount Flowmeters for Gases

Monitor the flow rate of air and other gases from your instrument panel—these flowmeters have fittings on the back for panel mounting. They should be mounted vertically inline with your piping system, so gas flows up from the bottom. As gas passes through, it pushes an indicator up the scale, showing you the flow rate. With an acrylic body, they're completely clear, so you can inspect your gas’s color and clarity for any problems.

These flowmeters are calibrated with air but can be used with other gases. If you’re using these with a gas other than air, you’ll need to calculate the flow rate by multiplying the number shown on the scale by the specific-gravity conversion factor for your gas.

Choose a fitting material that is compatible with the gas you're running through your line.

Easy Read Flowmeters

Style A


Style B—Left to Right	Style B—Right to Left

Style B—Bottom to Top	Style B—Top to Bottom

A large dial instead of a scale makes it easier to read the flow rate from a distance. As liquid flows through these flowmeters, it pushes a needle along the dial, showing you the flow rate. They measure flow correctly no matter the mounting orientation.

These flowmeters are calibrated with water but can be used with other liquids. If you’re using these with a liquid other than water, you’ll need to calculate the flow rate by multiplying the number shown on the scale by the specific-gravity conversion factor for your liquid.

Choose a direction of flow that matches your pipe system, so you don't have to tilt your head to read the dial.

Choose a fitting material that is compatible with the liquid you're running through your line.

PVC Fitting—PVC fittings work with a wide range of chemicals. However, they can crack from impact or when overtightened.

Aluminum Fitting—Aluminum fittings resist impact better than PVC fittings.

Brass Fitting—Brass fittings resist impact better than PVC fittings.

Bronze Fitting—Bronze fittings resist impact better than PVC fittings.

316 Stainless Steel Fitting—316 stainless steel fittings resist impact better than PVC fittings.

Style B—Style B flowmeters should be installed away from other fittings to get the most accurate reading. To determine how far away from the fittings it should be, take your pipe's diameter and multiply it by 10.
