With a raised disc surface that can be felt with feet and canes, these warning plates alert individuals with visual impairments to an upcoming intersection or an edge of a walkway. Often used on sidewalks, ramps, entryways, and pedestrian crossings, all of these warning plates are slip resistant and won't corrode or fade if exposed to harsh outdoor conditions. They comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for accessible design and the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) for detectable warnings on public walking surfaces.
Urethane Rubber—Urethane plates are flexible, so they’ll bend to conform to curves, dips, slopes, and inclines on uneven walkways. In addition to absorbing hard impacts without cracking better than fiberglass-reinforced polyester plates, they’re also easier to cut for a custom fit.
Fiberglass-Reinforced Polyester Plastic—Fiberglass-reinforced polyester plastic plates are more durable than urethane rubber plates. Hard impacts, however, may cause them to crack. Made to withstand heavy duty highway traffic loads, these plates meet the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO-H20) standards.
Adhesive Mount—Install adhesive plates on top of existing dry concrete with included adhesive and concrete anchors. They’re quicker and easier to install than set-in-concrete plates.
Set in Concrete—Set-in-concrete plates have a flange and anchors that install directly into wet concrete for a more secure hold than adhesive plates. These plates sit flush with the concrete to create an even walking surface that eliminates tripping hazards. To replace damaged plates, pry them off their anchors. Then, use the included bolts to secure a new plate to those same anchors—there’s no need to drill the surrounding concrete.
