Borescopes For Smartphones and Tablets
Connect these borescopes to your smart device to take high-resolution photos and videos of hard-to reach areas. The camera is mounted on a flexible cable and surrounded by bright LEDs, so you can inspect the dark interiors of machines and ducts. Download an app onto your device to control the lights and camera, as well as to view, record, store, and share images and video.
Battery-powered borescopes come with a USB charging cable for recharging them.
Borescopes with a pocket clip don’t have a controllable tip. Use them when you can see the inspection area clearly without bending the tip. The camera and cable are rated IP67 as protected from dust—even in areas with continuous airflow—and submersion in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The housing is rated IP42. These borescopes are often used in drains, pumps, and tanks.
Borescopes with a probe have a tip that bends up to 180°, allowing you to increase your viewing area without having to remove the borescope for adjustments. They’re rated IP65 as protected from dust—even in areas with continuous airflow—and low-pressure jets of water. The tip on borescopes with a rigid probe holds a bend in a single direction with a push button. Those with locking push-button control maintain the probe’s bend even when the push button isn’t pressed. The tip on borescopes with a flexible probe bends in two different directions with a knob. The bend will maintain itself until the knob is turned. These borescopes also have an LCD monitor on the hand controller for viewing images live. They include a microSD card for storing photos and videos.

Video-Recording Borescopes
View hard-to-reach areas live on the display or connect to a TV monitor using a video cable. The camera is fitted with an LED, so you can inspect the interiors of machines and ducts. These borescopes can record video and include a USB cable for viewing video on a PC monitor. They’re rated IP67 as protected from dust—even in areas with continuous airflow—and submersion in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
Borescopes with a 10-ft. maximum viewing distance don’t have a controllable cable tip, and they’re easier to assemble than borescopes that do. Use them for greater viewing distance when you can clearly see the inspection area without needing to control the tip. Unlike these other borescopes, they come with a video cable.
Borescopes with a controllable cable tip include a hand controller that lets you bend the tip without removing it from the inspection area. Tips on borescopes with two-way tip control bend up to 175° in two directions with a knob. Tips on borescopes with 360° tip control bend up to 180° in all directions with the use of a joystick. The joystick is rated IP55 for protection from harmful amounts of dust and low-pressure jets of water. These borescopes include a magnetic stand to hold them securely when they’re not in use.
Optional 0.31" dia. cable is longer than the included cable and has a maximum viewing distance of 10 ft. from end of cable.
Optional 0.22" dia. cable allows access to smaller openings and has a maximum viewing distance of 2.4” from end of cable.

Illuminating Glass Fiber Bundles
Light up small and hard-to-reach areas. These bundles are often used in fiberscopes and borescopes. They’re also good for lighting small areas in models, prototypes, and circuit boards. They transmit all colors of visible light and some wavelengths of infrared light.
Made of borosilicate glass, the fibers resist greater heat and transmit light better than plastic fibers. For precise lighting, they have two layers—the outer layer keeps light contained within the inner glass core. Bundles with a larger diameter have more fibers, so they give off more light.
A separate light source is needed to illuminate them. Connect them to an LED strip or other light source using heat-shrink tubing or a fitted part, such as a ferrule. They’re not for use in telecommunication cables.
The numerical aperture describes the maximum angle of light each fiber accepts and emits. To send light efficiently, use a light source with an angle at or below the numerical aperture. Choose fiber bundles with 0.66 NA for general purpose illumination. Fiber bundles with 0.55 NA cover a smaller area than those with 0.66 NA, making them good for lighting angles that have less space.
