Multipurpose Low-Carbon Steel U-Channels

Also known as mild steel, low-carbon steel is easy to machine, form, and weld. It can also be surface-hardened with heat treatment.
U-Channel—U-channels have thin, straight legs. They’re often used as edge protectors, cable trays, and trim.
C-Channel—C-channels are stronger than U-channels. They have thicker legs, and their tapered design distributes loads more evenly. They’re often used for structural purposes such as frames and supports.
MC-Channel—MC-channels are the strongest option, as they have wide bases and the thickest legs. Since they have straight legs, it’s easier to attach bolts to them than C-channels, which have tapered legs
