    Coolant-Fed Carbide Drill Bits

    The hardest and most wear-resistant bits, these deliver coolant to reduce heat and evacuate chips. They are designed for CNC machines that supply coolant through the spindle rather than an external source, such as a hose and nozzle. Coolant flows directly from holes in the bit's tip onto the drilling surface. This speeds up cuts and leads to excellent performance in deep holes and tough materials such as stainless steel and titanium.
    Jobbers' Length—These bits have the balance of rigidity and length needed for most applications.
    Maintenance Length—Shorter than jobbers' length, these bits are more rigid for less wobble when drilling hard material. Also known as mechanics’ bits.
    Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) Coated—No drill bits last longer. These are the best for high-speed, high-temperature drilling of very hard and abrasive materials, including titanium and fiberglass.

    Standard

    Channel coolant through the holes to reduce heat and evacuate chips more efficiently than other bits. These are designed for CNC machines that supply coolant through the spindle rather than an external source, such as a hose and nozzle. Coolant flows directly from the bit's tip onto the drilling surface. This speeds up cuts and leads to excellent performance in deep holes and tough materials such as stainless steel and titanium. A lower-price alternative to solid carbide, they stay sharp when drilling abrasive material but won’t last as long.
    Extended Length—Also known as gun drills, drill through panels and thick workpieces with our longest bits. Their length is good for creating deep holes but makes them less rigid than other bits. As a result, they are more prone to wobbling or breaking, especially when drilling hard materials.

    When you need to drill dozens or even hundreds of holes, use a bit with replaceable carbide inserts. Once the cutting edges wear down, just change the inserts instead of sharpening or throwing the bit away. The holes in the bit channel coolant through the tool for more efficient chip evacuation. Also known as indexable drill bits.
    Each drill bit requires two inserts—one on the inner cutting edge and one on the outer cutting edge. Replacement inserts are sold separately.

    Coolant-Fed Port Counterbores

    Deliver coolant to port holes as you cut to reduce heat and flush out chips. These port counterbores work in CNC machines that supply coolant through the spindle. A pilot guides the counterbore as it finishes the hole to the exact size you need for your fitting. These counterbores meet aerospace and military specifications for leakproof port holes, so fittings stay sealed over time, even during sudden pressure and vibration.
    You’ll need a step drill bit (sold separately) to rough out a hole with the right shape for your counterbore to finish. To complete your hole with threads, add a thread mill (sold separately).

    With multiple cutting edges, these drill bits rough out port holes to the right shape for your counterbore to finish. An internal channel delivers coolant as you cut to reduce heat and flush out chips. Use these bits with CNC machines that supply coolant through the spindle. Made of carbide, they resist wear to prepare holes that are clean and accurate over time. They’re also coated with aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) to further reduce heat while you cut, which extends their life. Also known as step drills.
    To finish the hole to size, you’ll need a port counterbore (sold separately). Add a thread mill (sold separately) to complete the hole with threads.

    All you need to machine precise port holes for hydraulic fittings, including a drill bit, port counterbore, and thread mill. These tools meet aerospace and military specifications for leakproof port holes, so fittings stay sealed over time, even during sudden pressure and vibration. With multiple cutting edges, the drill bit roughs out a hole with the right shape for the counterbore to finish. A built-in channel delivers coolant to the cutting surface to reduce heat and flush out chips more efficiently than a standard drill bit can. The counterbore has a pilot that guides the tool as it finishes the hole to the exact size you need for your fitting. Use the thread mill to cut internal threads. The mill leaves enough space in the hole for chips—or even a broken mill—to fall without damaging the workpiece.
    All tools are coated with aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) to reduce heat as you cut and extend tool life. While they’re most often used to make holes in aluminum and steel, you can also use them on hard metals like stainless steel.
