Hard-Hat Sun Shields

Protect your neck and face from the sun's rays. These sun shields are made of lightweight polyester, so they won’t weigh you down. An inner elastic rim fits over most hard hats.
Sun shields with a 50 UPF block 98% of the sun's UV rays. Roll up and secure the neck shade when you don't need the coverage and would prefer the extra airflow. The underside of the brim is dark to reduce the sun's glare, so you're not squinting in bright light.
Hard-Hat Cooling Pads
Keep a cool head when you’re wearing a hard hat. These cooling pads attach to a hard-hat suspension with hook and loop straps.
Pads with arc-flash protection minimize burns from sudden electrical flashes. These pads meet NFPA 70E standards for protecting against electrical arc flashes. Choose a cooling pad that meets the arc rated personal protective equipment (PPE) category required by your workplace.
Pads with neck coverage give you extra protection from the sun.
PET pads can be soaked in cold water for 1-3 minutes to cool you for your entire shift. They’re machine washable. Cotton pads have crystals that absorb water to relieve heat using evaporation. Soak them in cold water for 15-20 minutes to keep you cool for 4 hours. Polyester pads only require you to run water over them for about a minute to keep you cool for 4 hours. They’re fluorescent yellow, so you’re easy to spot in all lighting conditions. Machine wash them when necessary.

Cooling Bandanas

Soak these bandanas before wearing them—they’ll cool you off as the water evaporates.
Cotton bandanas contain absorbent cooling crystals to hold large amounts of water. Soak in cold water for 20 minutes for all-day cooling.
Run polyester/spandex bandanas under cold water and wring them out for instant cooling that lasts up to three hours. With UPF 50 sun protection, they protect your skin from UV rays when working outside. An odor-resistant finish prevents bacteria growth, eliminating odors caused by sweat. Reflective accents call attention to the wearer in low-light conditions, helping keep them safe. They have a low profile so they’re easily worn under hard hats. The polyester/spandex fabric is durable for long-term use while remaining soft and comfortable. It’s breathable to keep you cool, and easy to breathe through when used as a face covering. These bandanas are moisture wicking when dry, helping keep sweat out of your eyes when worn as a headband. High visibility bandanas come in neon colors, helping prevent accidents by making wearers easy to spot.

Cooling Vests

Stay safe when it’s hot—these vests cool down your core to protect you in extreme heat.
Style A vests soak up water that slowly evaporates to keep you cool for up to four hours. Soak them in cold water for a few minutes, and polymer crystals in the fabric will absorb large amounts of water. As you move, airflow creates a cool, damp sensation to lower your body temperature. Lightweight and flexible, these vests are made of nylon, with a mesh bottom to help with ventilation.
Style B vests hold water in a reservoir, which slowly evaporates to cool you down. Though they don't get as cold as other options, they last much longer, keeping you cool all day. Plus, you'll only need to refill the reservoir every three days. The most durable option, they have a rigid polyurethane shell, with a nylon liner for comfort. These vests have elastic hook and loop straps, making them the most adjustable style.
Style C vests have cooling packs that stay at 64° F for up to two hours. They don’t require airflow to cool you down, so you can wear them indoors as well as outdoors. Rechill the cooling packs in a freezer, fridge, or even in front of an air conditioner. To keep cool for longer, keep replacement cooling packs on hand.

Heat-Reflective Aluminized Shrouds

Protect your neck from heat, sparks, and molten metal splashes. Often used in steel mills and glass plants, these shrouds are made of aluminized material. Use the hook and loop tabs to fasten them to a hard hat (sold separately). They have snaps in the front to close the shroud around the front of your neck.
Rayon provides good radiant-heat protection as well as moderate spark protection.
Carbon/Kevlar aramid blend is a heavyweight fabric that lasts longer than rayon. It holds up in higher temperatures than rayon while providing excellent abrasion and cut resistance.
Flame- and Arc-Flash-Protection Shirts

These shirts meet NFPA 70E and NFPA 2112 standards for protecting your torso and arms from electrical arc flashes and flames. Choose shirts that meet the arc rated category for your workplace. The higher the arc rating, the greater the flame resistance. These shirts are arc fire protection rated Category 2, the most common rating for industrial applications. Since they’re made of breathable and moisture-wicking materials, you stay cool. They have buttons down the front and on the cuffs, as well as two chest pockets.
When measuring chest size, measure around the fullest part of your chest.
Shirts with mesh vents allow cool air in as your shift your shoulders. The vents are hidden on the upper back.

Shop Hats

Keep sweat out of your eyes with these breathable cotton hats. All are machine washable.
When measuring head circumference, measure just above your ear, where the hat will rest. If you are between sizes, order one size up.
Bandanas are large enough to tie over your head and hair if caps and beanies won’t fit. Made from a blend of PVA and cotton, they’re better for cooling than cotton alone. Soak them before you tie them on, and the water will cool you off as it evaporates.
Cooling Hard Hats

Stay cool and protect your head—a reflective barrier in these hard hats lowers the temperature by 20 degrees. A full brim runs around the hat to shield your head and neck from sun, rain, and glare. It offers 12% more coverage than the brim on a standard full brim hat, providing additional protection from the elements. A built-in sweatband keeps perspiration out of your eyes, even if you sweat.
Type I hard hats protect against blows to the top of the head only. A foam shell absorbs impact, reducing force on the neck and head. To fit the hard hat snugly to your head, turn a knob on the back that tightens the suspension. The reversible suspension lets you turn the hat around without taking it off. For example, spin the hat to move a face shield out of the way or turn the hat to fit in a tight space. You can also add attachments such as face shields or earmuffs to the mounting slots on the hat.
Class C hard hats have not been tested for electrical protection. Class E hard hats insulate from electrical shocks and are often used near overhead power lines and high-voltage equipment. They’re tested at 20,000 volts.
Hard hats with ventilation holes add another way to stay cool by letting air circulate.
