Coupling and Bearing Guards

Shield couplings and bearings from dirt and debris while protecting fingers and tools from moving parts. Guards are electrically nonconductive, and resist chemicals, corrosion, and impact. They are OSHA compliant 29 CFR 1910.219 for rotating machinery. Guards come unassembled.

Shock-Absorbing Grid Couplings

A strip of flexible spring steel (known as a grid) absorbs sudden load increases from motor startups, emergency braking, and other shock loads. They're commonly found in wire drawing and cutting machines, pulverizers, and mixers. For a complete coupling, select two hubs and a grid kit. Choose components of the same trade size to ensure they'll fit together.

Hubs

The metal body mounts onto shafts to transmit torque from one shaft to the other through the flexible center.

Black-Oxide Steel—Typically chosen for their appearance, these hubs have a dark, matte coating that creates a finished look. They offer minimal corrosion resistance, so they're best for dry environments.

Set-Screw Shaft Mount—Screws dig into your shaft for a secure hold.

Grid Kits

The grid wraps around the teeth of both hubs to spread the force of starts, stops, and reversals. When the shock load hits, the grid flexes to spread out the load. After the load passes, the grid straightens back out.

Spring Steel—Use these hard, rigid grids for high-stress applications. They're best for dry environments, since moisture will cause them to rust.

Rigid Shaft Coupling Covers

Extend the life of your rigid shaft couplings by blocking out dirt, water, lubricants, and other contaminants. These two-piece covers twist together to form a shell around the coupling. Viton® fluoroelastomer O-rings on the threads and around each shaft complete the seal. The outer surface is knurled for a good grip when tightening by hand. Covers are only for use with round, unkeyed shafts.

Puller Protection Blankets

Wrap these blankets around grip pullers, presses, and other moving equipment to protect yourself from flying debris. The transparent plastic is tough enough to contain fast-moving parts without tearing, and won’t block your view of the machine. Hold these blankets in place with straps—the squeeze-release buckles make them easy to install or remove.

High-Torque Chain Couplings

A rugged roller chain locks onto teeth on the hubs to withstand high torque. Often found in conveyors, mixers, and crushers, these couplings also compensate for high angular misalignment. Lubricate to maintain smooth motion. For a complete coupling, select two hubs and one roller chain. Choose components of the same trade size to ensure they'll fit together.

High-Torque Spider Couplings

With a thick split spider in the center, these transmit higher torque than standard split spider couplings. Connect them to pumps, mixers, and other equipment that generates heavy torque. The spider also prevents metal-to-metal contact between the hubs, so there's no need for lubrication. For a complete coupling, select two hubs, one split spider, and one split spider cover. Choose components with the same trade size to ensure they'll fit together.
