Each hub includes a set screw (unless noted), which bites into your shaft to hold the coupling in place. Also known as Lovejoy® couplings, these three-piece couplings have a spider-shaped cushion between two hubs to reduce shock and handle minor shaft misalignment.
A complete coupling consists of two hubs and one spider, or two hubs, one split spider, and one retaining ring (all components sold separately). Split spiders are easier to install and replace than standard spiders because there’s no need for tools or removing your hubs. Twist-lock them in place using a retaining ring.
Buna-N—Buna-N spiders provide good vibration damping and chemical resistance.
Hytrel—Hytrel spiders provide fair vibration damping and excellent chemical resistance.

The thick split spider on these couplings takes on twice as much torque as standard split spiders, while a set screw holds the hubs in place on your shaft. Also known as jaw couplings, use them to connect motors to pumps, mixers, and other high-torque equipment. You don’t need to lubricate them.
For a complete coupling, you’ll need two hubs, one split spider, and a split spider cover (all sold separately).
Hubs attach to the end of your shaft.
Split spiders cushion between the two hubs to dampen vibration, reduce shocks, and handle shaft misalignment, extending the life of bearings, seals, and motors. You can replace them without having to remove the hubs or move your shaft and equipment around, which reduces the risk of needing to realign the shaft.
Split spider covers hold the spider in place.

Designed to grip evenly around your shaft, these couplings provide more holding power than set screw couplings without marring the shaft. Tighten the clamping screws to secure. Also known as Oldham couplings, they have a slotted disc that allows hubs to slide independently—good for applications with parallel shaft misalignment. They also allow zero backlash (no play) and never need lubrication.

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Clamping Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings, Parallel Cut.

    Parallel Cut

Designed to grip evenly around your shaft, these couplings provide more holding power than set screw couplings without marring the shaft. Tighten the clamping screws to secure.
Spiral Cut—Spiral couplings have long cuts in their body for flexibility to handle parallel, axial, and angular misalignment better than parallel couplings. However, they’re not as rigid. Often used for light duty encoder and stepper drive applications, they allow zero backlash (no play) and never need lubrication. They’re also known as helical beam couplings.
Parallel Cut—Parallel couplings have short, intermittent cuts that make them more rigid and able to handle more torque and speed than spiral couplings, but they’re worse at correcting misalignment. Use them in high-torque applications, such as linear test systems and scientific instruments. They’re sometimes called slit couplings.
7075 Aluminum—7075 aluminum couplings are lightweight with good corrosion resistance.
303 Stainless Steel—303 stainless steel couplings offer excellent corrosion resistance.

    Two-Piece Rigid Shaft Couplings

Install and remove these shaft couplings without disconnecting the shafts, motors, and other attached components—they’re made in two pieces so you don’t need to slide them onto shaft ends. They’re also useful when you have limited access to the ends of the shafts. These couplings clamp onto the shafts, creating a secure hold that won’t mar them. Good for high-torque applications, they have a rigid construction. However, their rigidity means these couplings can only connect shafts that are well aligned.

High-Speed Servomotor Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. High-Speed Servomotor Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings.
Connect shafts and ball screws to high-speed servomotors and stepper motors—these shaft couplings handle four times more speed than standard servomotor couplings. They’re often found on high-torque motors that frequently start and stop, such as those used with packaging machines, press brakes, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
With aluminum hubs joined by a flexible fluoroelastomer or Buna-N core, these shaft couplings dampen vibration and adjust for misalignment. When machines accelerate and decelerate quickly, these couplings remain stiff to maintain accuracy and repeatability, which prevents equipment from moving out of place. They also resist backlash, meaning all of the turning force from the motor is passed on to the connected shaft. The core resists water, petroleum-based chemicals, and inorganic acids while also insulating bearings, encoders, and other shaft components from stray electric current. Clamping screws provide hold without marring shafts; they’re useful in applications where shafts are frequently assembled and disassembled.

Set Screw Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Set Screw Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings.
Tighten the set screws to fasten these couplings to your shaft. Set screws bite into the shaft to hold the couplings in place. All are lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum.
Spiral Cut—Spiral couplings have long, continuous cuts in the body, making them flexible enough to handle parallel, axial, and angular misalignment. Often used for light duty encoder and stepper drive applications, they allow zero backlash (no play) and never need lubrication. They’re also known as helical beam couplings. Spiral couplings are less rigid than parallel couplings.

Cleaned and Bagged Flexible Shaft Couplings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Cleaned and Bagged Flexible Shaft Couplings.
Often used in electronics manufacturing facilities and other extra-clean environments, these shaft couplings are cleaned and individually bagged to keep out contaminants. Their center also doesn’t outgas much, helping keep contaminants low as well. All are compatible with most commercial acids except concentrated nitric and sulfuric acid. Also known as Oldham couplings, their slotted center lets the hubs slide independently, so they’re good for applications with parallel shaft misalignment. They never require lubrication.

Also called double-loop couplings, these have a flexible center that reduces vibration and compensates for high parallel and angular shaft misalignment. They allow zero backlash (no play) and will run smoothly and quietly. Fasten to your shaft by tightening the set screws, which bite into the shaft to hold it.
316L Stainless Steel—316L stainless steel couplings offer excellent corrosion resistance.

    Set Screw Shaft Collars

Image of Product. Front orientation. Shaft Collars. Set Screw Shaft Collars.
Slide these traditional collars from one end of the shaft and tighten the set screw. They dig into the shaft for a secure hold, but one that leaves a gouge. For maximum holding power, make sure the set screw is harder than the shaft.
Black-Oxide Carbon Steel—Dark and matted for a finished look, but with minimal corrosion resistance. Best for dry environments.
Zinc-Plated Carbon Steel—A step up from plain carbon steel collars, these withstand occasional exposure to moisture.
Blue Passivated Zinc-Plated Carbon Steel—Withstand moisture and mild chemicals better than standard zinc-plated-steel collars. The blue passivated finish makes it easy to identify metric collars at a glance.
Carbon Steel—Strong and easy to machine. Use in dry environments, since moisture will cause steel to rust.
303 Stainless Steel—Withstand moisture and mild cleaning solutions, such as acetone and ammonia. These are easier to machine than other stainless steel collars.
