    Precision Spider Couplings

Image of System. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Precision Spider Couplings.
Position shafts and handle misalignment on precision motors, pumps, and other equipment that requires highly controlled movements. These couplings have a hard, rubber spider to fully transfer torque from one shaft to the other (zero backlash). They're also known as precision jaw couplings. Choose components with the same trade size to ensure they'll fit together.
    Hubs
Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Precision Spider Couplings, Hubs.
The metal body mounts onto shafts to transmit torque from one shaft to the other through the flexible center.
    Aluminum—Lightweight and corrosion resistant.
Clamp-On Shaft Mount—Grip shafts evenly without marring them and hold tighter than set screws. Tighten the clamping screws to secure.

A flexible center fits between hubs to enable torque transfer and damp vibration.
Polyurethane Rubber—Provide a balance of stiffness and moderate vibration damping. Higher-durometer spiders are more rigid for more precise positioning, but they absorb less vibration.

    Spider Couplings

Image of System. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Spider Couplings.
With two hubs gripping a rubbery spider in the center, these couplings damp vibration and transfer torque while flexing to handle misaligned shafts. The metal hubs never touch each other, so there's no need for lubrication. Also known as Lovejoy® couplings. For a complete coupling, select two hubs and one spider or two hubs, one split spider, and one retaining ring. Choose components with the same trade size to ensure they'll fit together.

The metal body mounts onto shafts to transmit torque from one shaft to the other through the flexible center.
Keyed—Mount onto shafts with a matching keyway.
Steel—Best for dry environments, since moisture will cause these hubs to rust.

    High-Parallel-Misalignment Slotted Disc Couplings

Image of System. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Flexible Shaft Couplings. High-Parallel-Misalignment Slotted Disc Couplings.
Unlike couplings that flex to handle offset shafts, these have a slotted center disc that allows shafts to slide independently to compensate for parallel misalignment. The plastic center disc also helps transmit torque while preventing metal-to-metal contact between hubs, so there's no lubrication required. Also known as Oldham couplings. For a complete coupling, select two hubs and one disc. Choose components of the same trade size to ensure they'll fit together.

With two perpendicular slots (one on each side), these discs allow shafts to slide, adjusting for parallel misalignment.
Acetal—Provide a balance of stiffness and flexibility while withstanding high torque. The best plastic discs for damp and wet environments, these won't swell or lose their strength if exposed to moisture.
Nylon—Keep these wear-resistant discs dry, since they'll swell and weaken if exposed to moisture.
PEEK—Stronger, stiffer, and more wear resistant than nylon and acetal discs.

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Servomotor Precision Disc Couplings.
With rigid, bolted-on discs, these couplings withstand high torque from starts, stops, and reversals. Use them when accurate, repeatable positioning is a must. The double-disc design accommodates misalignment and smoothly transmits torque without any loss of force (zero backlash).

    Servomotor Precision Bonded Couplings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Servomotor Precision Bonded Couplings.
With a bonded rubber center, these couplings damp vibration and accommodate misalignment on servomotors. The center and the lightweight aluminum hubs transfer torque fully (zero backlash) between shafts that start and stop frequently or accelerate at high speeds. They're often used on packaging machines, press brakes, and machinery for semiconductor production.
Aluminum with Fluoroelastomer Center—Lightweight and corrosion-resistant hubs bonded with a flexible rubber center handle corrosive environments, vibration, and shaft misalignment.

Attach these collars anywhere along your shaft, which helps when other components are already installed or you can't access the end. They clamp firmly and evenly without marring the shaft, so you can reposition or remove collars later.
Black-Oxide Carbon Steel—Dark and matted for a finished look, but with minimal corrosion resistance. Best for dry environments.
Chrome-Plated Carbon Steel—Resist moisture and mild cleaning solutions better than zinc-plated collars.
303 Stainless Steel—Withstand moisture and mild cleaning solutions, such as acetone and ammonia. These are easier to machine than other stainless steel collars.
316 Stainless Steel—More corrosion resistant than 303 stainless steel collars. These collars withstand salt water and harsh chemicals, such as bleach, chlorine, and phosphoric acid.
Aluminum—One-third the weight of steel and corrosion resistant.
