Paint metal surfaces to stop rust from starting and prevent existing rust from spreading. Scrape rusty areas clean before application. Although primer is not required for use on all materials, it can be used to prepare any surface to maximize the life and corrosion resistance of paint.
Acrylic Plastic—Acrylic plastic paint is water-based and can be cleaned up with soap and water. It’s also known as latex paint.
Silicone Rubber—Silicone rubber paint stops corrosion on high-temperature surfaces, such as smokestacks, incinerators, heaters, and heat exchangers.
Aerosol Can—Paint in an aerosol can does not require a primer.
1 gal. Container—Apply paint in a one-gallon can with a brush, roller, or sprayer.
2 hr. Overall Dry Time—To apply paint with a 2-hour overall dry time, spray paint on, and then increase the temperature two to three times (450° to 650° F), allowing surface to cool between firings.
7 day Overall Dry Time—Paint with a 7-day overall dry time resists weather and mild chemicals once fully dry.
Safety Blue—Safety blue is used on “out of order,” “employees only,” and other general-information signs. Safety-color paint colors are approved by OSHA to color-code safety equipment locations, physical hazards, and protective equipment.
Safety Green—Safety green indicates general safety and is often used to identify first aid kits and other medical equipment and to explain safety procedures. Safety-color paint colors are approved by OSHA to color-code safety equipment locations, physical hazards, and protective equipment.
Safety Orange—Safety orange indicates hazards and is often used on warning signs, construction equipment, and unguarded edges. Safety-color paint colors are approved by OSHA to color-code safety equipment locations, physical hazards, and protective equipment.
Safety Purple—Safety purple indicates radiation hazards, especially when used with safety yellow. Safety-color paint colors are approved by OSHA to color-code safety equipment locations, physical hazards, and protective equipment.
Safety Red—Safety red indicates danger and is often used on fire protection equipment, containers for flammable liquid, and switches on machinery. Safety-color paint colors are approved by OSHA to color-code safety equipment locations, physical hazards, and protective equipment.
Safety Yellow—Safety yellow indicates caution and is often used on tripping hazards, exposed edges, and start buttons. Safety-color paint colors are approved by OSHA to color-code safety equipment locations, physical hazards, and protective equipment.
Cannot Be Sold To—Paint that cannot be sold to the listed areas exceed local regulatory limits on VOC (volatile organic compounds).

Contrast Paint for Magnetic-Particle Flaw Detection

Image of Product. Front orientation. Paint. Contrast Paint for Magnetic-Particle Flaw Detection.
Create a high-contrast background for magnetic particles to make flaws easier to spot during inspections. This opaque white paint reduces glare, so you can see where particles are clustered around imperfections. No need for brushes—it comes in an aerosol can that’s easy to use during field testing and spot inspections. Even when the can is upside down, the 360° sprayer won’t sputter or spatter, so you can coat parts evenly without straining your wrist. To speed up inspections, this paint dries quickly, leaving a clean coat that won’t bubble or flake. It works with both wet and dry magnetic particles.

    Powder Coating Sprayers

Good for small jobs and frequent color changes, these sprayers have small containers and adjustable controls that make switching between jobs easy. To make color changes faster, keep multiple sets of the cups or tanks, couplings, and tubing (all sold separately) on hand to reduce the components you need to clean between colors.
    Sprayers with 8 oz. Cup
Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains MultipleImages. Powder Coating Sprayers. Sprayers with 8 oz. Cup.
Sprayers with an 8 oz. cup are easy to set up and use because the cup attaches directly to the sprayer. The cup is also clear, so you can monitor powder levels while you spray. These sprayers are best for coating small parts, such as hardware and hand tools. They have two different output voltages you can choose between by flipping a switch on the control unit. Use the lower voltage for detailed jobs and the higher voltage for general purpose jobs.
Output Voltage—Output voltage is the amount of electrical charge applied to the powder coating. Lower voltages are good for intricate details and hard-to-reach corners and crevices. Higher voltages are good for quickly coating large, flat surfaces.

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains MultipleImages. Powder Coating Sprayers. Sprayers with 2 lb. Tank.
Sprayers with a 2 lb. tank hold more powder than sprayers with an 8 oz. cup. For a smooth, even coat on flat surfaces, the tank uses compressed air to circulate powder, preventing spitting and surging. Because you can adjust the output voltage in increments, these sprayers are good for a wide variety of applications, from small parts to large objects such as furniture, enclosures, and guardrails. They also come with different nozzles, so you can change the size, shape, and speed of your spray depending on your surface.

Materials for High-Vacuum Thin Film Protective Coatings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Protective Coatings. Materials for High-Vacuum Thin Film Protective Coatings.
Coat knobs, handles, mirrors, and other objects with a micron-thin, decorative finish. 99.999% or 99.88% elementally pure, these metals vaporize when heated with low-voltage current inside a high-vacuum environment. The material then coats the object one atom at a time. Also known as physical vapor deposition (PVD), this process allows for super-thin coatings that are more consistent, wear resistant, and corrosion resistant than coatings created through other methods. Hold and heat the material in a material holder.
All materials will coat metal and plastic with a silvery-white color.
    Aluminum—Aluminum has a dull appearance.
Silver—Silver has a shiny appearance and adds corrosion resistance.
