Our basic drill bits are also the most versatile. Cut holes in a variety of metals, from the softest aluminum to the hardest steel.
Jobbers' Length—These bits have the balance of rigidity and length needed for most applications.
Extended Length—Drill through panels and thick workpieces with our longest bits. Their length is good for creating deep holes but makes them less rigid than other bits. As a result, they are more prone to wobbling or breaking, especially when drilling hard materials.
Black Oxide—The dark finish increases wear resistance and reduces friction to improve chip flow, so these bits can last 50% longer than uncoated bits.
Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coated—Drill at higher speeds and last longer than uncoated and oxide-coated bits, especially on tough materials like hardened steel and nickel.
Uncoated—The most economical option, uncoated bits perform best when used on low-carbon steel and aluminum. Polished to reduce friction, they're also known as bright finish bits.

Tough and wear resistant, cobalt steel bits last at least twice as long as high-speed steel. They can also run up to 25% faster at higher temperatures without being damaged on hard materials, such as nickel.
Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN) Coated—The hardest and most wear-resistant coating, especially at high temperatures. These bits are best for hard and abrasive materials, such as iron, titanium, and fiberglass.
Uncoated—Polished to eject chips, these are also known as bright finish bits.

Not only do these bits bore holes faster than standard smooth-finish bits, they create less friction and heat buildup to last longer. The spurred teeth have a long life, but they're less effective at guiding the bit so cuts on angled and overlapping holes tend to be rougher. Also known as multispur bits.
Black Oxide—The dark finish increases wear resistance and reduces friction to improve chip flow, so these bits can last 50% longer than uncoated bits.

Performance similar to solid carbide but at a lower price point. Like carbide bits, these are stronger than cobalt and high-speed steel and maintain their sharp edges when drilling abrasive material. However, when drilling tough metals like iron and hardened steel, upgrade to carbide for longer life.
Extended Length—Drill through panels and thick workpieces with our longest bits. Their length is good for creating deep holes but makes them less rigid than other bits. As a result, they are more prone to wobbling or breaking, especially when drilling hard materials.

    Cobalt Steel Square End Mills

Image of Product. Front orientation. End Mills. Cobalt Steel Square End Mills, 4 Flutes.

    4 Flutes

With better heat and wear resistance than high-speed steel, these cobalt steel end mills can run at higher speeds and provide better performance on hard material, such as iron, hardened steel, titanium, and tool steel. They have a square end for milling square slots, pockets, and edges.
End mills with fewer flutes provide better chip clearance for high-volume, high-speed plunge, slotting, and roughing cuts; end mills with more flutes provide a finer finish and operate with less vibration when run at high speeds.
Uncoated Cobalt Steel—Use uncoated end mills for general purpose milling and short production runs.
Titanium Carbon Nitride (TiCN)-Coated Cobalt Steel—Use titanium carbon nitride (TiCN)-coated end mills for demanding, high-speed jobs in hard material as well as for longer production runs. They have a hard, smooth finish that resists chipping and wear and prevents material from accumulating on the cutting edge. They’re especially good for use in aluminum.
Center Cutting—Center-cutting end mills allow plunge cuts into a surface.

Variable spacing between the flutes reduces vibration, allowing these end mills to provide fast cuts, smooth finishes, and long tool life on hard materials. Made of solid carbide, these end mills are harder, stronger, and more wear resistant than high-speed steel and cobalt steel for the longest life and best finish on hard material. Their extreme hardness means they are brittle, so a highly rigid setup, such as a CNC machine, is necessary to prevent the end mill from breaking. They have a square end for milling square-bottomed slots, pockets, and edges.
End mills with fewer flutes provide better chip clearance for high-volume, high-speed plunge, slotting, and roughing cuts; end mills with more flutes provide a finer finish and operate with less vibration when run at high speeds.
Titanium Aluminum Nitride (TiAlN)-Coated Carbide—A titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) or aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) coating allows them to dissipate heat better than other end mills, especially at high speeds. At high temperatures, the coating creates a layer of aluminum oxide that transfers heat to the chips, keeping the tool cool, even when used without lubrication. Aluminum titanium nitride (AlTiN) has a higher percentage of aluminum than titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN).

Four flutes with a 35° helix angle provide a smooth finish on nickel alloys, such as Monel, Inconel, and Hastelloy. Variable spacing between the flutes reduces vibration, allowing these end mills to provide fast cuts, smooth finishes, and long tool life on hard materials. They have a square end for milling square-bottomed slots, pockets, and edges. All are center cutting, allowing plunge cuts into a surface.
A titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) coating allows them to dissipate heat better than other end mills, especially at high speeds. At high temperatures, the coating creates a layer of aluminum oxide that transfers heat to the chips, keeping the tool cool, even when used without lubrication. This makes these good for aggressive machining while roughing or making interrupted cuts.

With a higher helix angle than standard high-speed steel end mills, these clear more chips and generate less heat, making them good for milling soft material, such as aluminum, brass and bronze. They are center cutting for making plunge cuts into surfaces and have a square-end cut style for milling square slots, pockets, and edges.
Uncoated High-Speed Steel—Use uncoated end mills for general purpose milling and short production runs.

Serrations along the cutting edge act as chip breakers, so these end mills can remove large amounts of material at high speeds. They are high-speed steel for general purpose milling in most material, such as aluminum, brass, bronze, iron, and steel. Their square end makes them good for milling square slots and edges.
End mills with fewer flutes provide better chip clearance for high-volume, high-speed plunge, slotting, and roughing cuts; end mills with more flutes provide a finer finish and operate with less vibration when run at high speeds.
Noncenter Cutting—Noncenter-cutting end mills are for operations where the peripheral teeth do most of the work, such as shoulder milling, contouring, and finishing. They cannot be used for plunge cuts.
