    Press-Fit Drill Bushings

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Drill Bushings. Press-Fit Drill Bushings.
Image of Product. Front orientation. Drill Bushings. Press-Fit Drill Bushings.
Also known as jig bushings, these drill bushings fit inside fixture plate holes to precisely guide drill bits, counterbores, reamers, and other cutting tools. They improve accuracy so your drilled holes and cuts are consistent from part to part. Known for their versatility, drill bushings are also used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings.
Press into place with a manual or hydraulic press. Since these bushings are sized slightly larger than the hole for an extremely tight fit, they’ll stay put permanently. These are ANSI Type P bushings—also known as headless bushings—which means you don’t need to counterbore the hole to mount them flush.

A flanged head on these bushings acts as a stop, so they won’t press through your jig even under extreme drilling pressure. They’re ANSI Type H bushings, also known as headed bushings. The head adds support and protects the jig from damage caused by heavy use, so they’re often used in jigs made of thin or soft materials. These bushings guide your drill bit, reamer, or other cutting bit to create accurate, consistent holes from one workpiece to the next. They’re also used as spacers, shims, and machinery bushings. Made of hardened, ground steel, they hold their shape and resist wear, so they last for many cycles without needing to be replaced.
To install, fit the bushing into a hole in your jig. In a standard hole, the head will sit above the jig plate; to mount flush, install in a countersunk hole. A chamfered edge on the bottom of the bushing helps center the bushing in the hole. Once it’s centered, press the bushing into place with a hydraulic or lever press.

Replace worn bushings and quickly change IDs without needing to repeatedly use a lever press. Instead of pressing bushings in and out of your jig fixture, which can cause damage, these bushings slide in and out of sleeves (sold separately). By swapping in a bushing with a different ID, you can change the size of your bit and still use the same hole in your fixture. All are made to tight dimensional tolerances for consistent, accurate results, even as you change them in and out. They're also known as slip-fixed and renewable bushings.
Choose a sleeve with a length that matches the length of your bushing. To prevent bushings from spinning inside the sleeve as you drill, pair a standard sleeve with a lock screw, or use a locking sleeve. For faster placement in and removal from sleeves, use a handle.

    Dry-Running Sleeve Bearings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Sleeve Bearings. Dry-Running Sleeve Bearings.
Made of naturally slippery plastic so you’ll never have to add lubricant. They’re ideal for clean environments where you need to prevent oil drips or graphite flakes. Compared to metal bearings, they are lighter and will never rust.
With no moving parts, sleeve bearings are the simplest way to support the load of a rotating shaft while reducing friction. Also known as plain bearings.
Nylon—The most popular choice, nylon is wear resistant yet economical. Keep in mind, though, that it will swell and weaken when exposed to moisture.
Moisture-Resistant Acetal—These bearings won’t warp or swell from humidity or direct contact with water, unlike nylon.
Ultra-Chemical-Resistant PTFE—The most chemical-resistant bearings we offer. PTFE is unaffected by the harsh fluids that other plastics can't handle, including all strong acids and bases. PTFE also reduces friction better than nylon but is not as strong.
Ultra-Chemical-Resistant Glass-Filled PTFE—Adding glass to PTFE improves its strength without affecting its chemical resistance. PTFE is unaffected by the harsh fluids that other plastics can't handle, including all strong acids and bases. While the glass fibers reinforce the PTFE, they might also increase friction.
High-Load Ultra-Low-Friction Plastic Blend—Create the least amount of friction of any bearings that we offer. They handle heavier loads than Rulon J bearings but can't withstand the same extreme temperatures.

Removable Drill Bushings for Thin Metal

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Drill Bushings. Removable Drill Bushings for Thin Metal.
Unlike most bushings, these won’t buckle the material or distort the hole when installed in thin-gauge aluminum and steel fixture plates. They’re held in place by a lock ring (sold separately), so they’re easy to remove and reuse. Also known as jig bushings, they accurately guide drill bits, counterbores, reamers, and other cutting tools. Use them to make sure your drilled holes and cuts are consistent from part to part.

Install and forget these self-lubricating bearings. All are made from porous metal and saturated with oil to reduce maintenance and downtime. A good all-around choice, they are used in everything from palm-sized fans in electronics to tire-sized pulleys. Although these bearings will work in most conditions, oil may drip away if temperatures get too high. Consider a graphite-lubricated bearing for higher temperatures or places where you can’t afford the mess. All are fabricated, lubricated, and inspected in the U.S.
With no moving parts, sleeve bearings are the simplest way to support the load of a rotating shaft while reducing friction. Also known as plain bearings.
841 Bearing Bronze—A classic choice for a starter pick. Also known as SAE 841 bearings.
Mineral Oil Base—Mineral oil consistently lubricates at most temperatures but doesn’t last as long as synthetic oil.

With ID tolerances sized specifically for reamers, these bushings ensure steady and precise hole finishing. Press them into a fixture plate with a manual or hydraulic press for permanent installation. Also known as headless bushings, these ANSI-type P bushings don’t need counterboring to be mounted flush. They are made of hardened, ground steel that holds its shape and resists wear, so they last for many cycles without needing to be replaced.

Drill Bushings for Extended-Length Drill Bits

Image of System. Front orientation. Exploded view. Contains Annotated. Drill Bushings. Drill Bushings for Extended-Length Drill Bits.
Guide extended-length drill bits into workpieces to create deep, accurate holes. Also known as gun drill bushings, these bushings are used with gun drilling machines and CNCs. Rather than installing them directly in your fixture, you slide these bushings in and out of sleeves (sold separately). This means you can replace a worn bushing quickly, without damaging your fixture. Swap in a bushing with a different ID, and you can use the same hole in your fixture for a different-sized bit.

Made of naturally slippery plastic so you’ll never have to add lubricant. They’re ideal for clean environments where you need to prevent oil drips or graphite flakes. Compared to metal bearings, they are lighter and will never rust.
Flanged sleeve bearings combine a sleeve and thrust bearing in one. The flange supports thrust loads and prevents the bearing from being pushed out of place. The sleeve is the simplest way to support the load of a rotating shaft while reducing friction.

Food-and-Beverage Dry-Running Mounted Sleeve Bearings with Two-Bolt Flange

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Mounted Bearings. Food-and-Beverage Dry-Running Mounted Sleeve Bearings with Two-Bolt Flange.
Made of plastic approved by the FDA for direct food contact, these sleeve bearings won't leach harmful impurities, odors, or flavors into your food line. The naturally slippery material requires no lubrication, so there's no messy grease to drip off, wash out, or collect dust. They're the right choice for smooth rotation in mixers, conveyors, fillers, and other food-processing machinery.
With no moving parts, sleeve bearings stand up to dusty, dirty conditions better than ball bearings. However, with more friction generated, they're less effective at high speeds. The sturdy housing supports the shaft and secures with a two-bolt flange, the most common kind of flanged bearing.
Chemical-Resistant PEEK—PEEK resists harsh chemicals and won’t melt or deform at high temperatures. These housings are highly wear-resistant, but they may crack or dent from hard impacts and vibrations.

Light Duty Dry-Running Mounted Sleeve Bearings with Two-Bolt Flange

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Mounted Bearings. Light Duty Dry-Running Mounted Sleeve Bearings with Two-Bolt Flange.
With simple, lightweight designs, these bearings are a cost-effective option when extreme precision isn't necessary. Less stable than bearings with forged, one-piece housings, they're good for hand-cranked systems, gravity feed conveyor rollers, and other low-speed applications. Inside, the sleeve is made of naturally slick plastic that doesn't require lubrication. They'll keep shafts spinning with no messy grease to drip off, wash out, or collect dust. With no moving parts, sleeve bearings stand up to grimy environments better than ball bearings. However, with more friction generated, they're less effective at high speeds. The housing mounts in place with a two-bolt flange, the most common type of flanged bearing.
Nylon—Nylon bearings are wear-resistant and economical. They're best in dry environments, as exposure to moisture will cause them to weaken and swell.
