Thanks to their grip, they’re great for high-torque, low-speed drilling in hard materials. Mount them to the threaded spindles of hand-held drills. For machines without spindles, mount them to a threaded drill chuck arbor.

A through hole allows long bits to pass through without hitting the back of the chuck. They can also be used on an electrical discharge machine (EDM) to hold electrodes and let fluid pass through.

To maximize grip and minimize runout, choose a chuck where your drill bit diameter falls in the middle of the bit shank size range.
