Keep a variety of leaf thicknesses on hand to confirm gaps are within tolerance. These gauges are often used to check the clearance around bearings and other machine parts, making sure there’s enough space to avoid friction and prevent wear. The leaves are riveted together in a folding fan design, so they’re easy to carry. Each leaf is marked with thickness for quick reference.
Offset Leaf—Offset leaves are angled to access gaps that flat leaves can’t reach.
Tapered End—Leaves with tapered ends are often used for go/no-go checks. The end of each leaf is 0.002" thinner than its listed thickness. If the tip fits but the rest of the body doesn’t, your gap is within tolerance.
Steel—Steel leaves are stronger, harder, and more wear resistant than stainless steel and brass leaves.
Brass—Brass leaves have good corrosion resistance and are nonmarring to prevent scratches. They’re also nonmagnetic, so you can safely check spark plugs and other electronic ignitions without attracting debris.
Steel, Brass—Sets with both steel and brass leaves include 30 steel leaves and six brass leaves.
Tool Steel—Tool steel leaves are stronger, harder, and more wear resistant than stainless steel and brass leaves.
Stainless Steel—Stainless steel leaves are less likely to rust than steel and tool steel leaves.
Leaf-Securing Lock—Sets with a leaf-securing lock hold individual leaves in place so they don’t move and disrupt measurements.

Starrett Feeler Gauge Sets with Calibration Certificate

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Feeler Gauges. Starrett Feeler Gauge Sets with Calibration Certificate.
To ensure accurate readings, these sets come with a certificate of calibration traceable to NIST that states they’ve passed a test for accuracy. They are used to check gaps, alignment, and narrow slots. Gauge leaves are riveted together in a fan design that folds up for portability. Each leaf is marked with thickness. Leaf-securing locks hold individual gauge leaves in place.
Tool Steel—Tool steel gauge sets are stronger, harder, and more wear resistant than stainless steel gauge sets.

Wire, Width, and Thickness Feeler Gauge Sets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Feeler Gauges. Wire, Width, and Thickness Feeler Gauge Sets.
These sets combine a wire gauge, a tapered-width feeler gauge, and a set of feeler gauges for tight spots in one tool. The tapered-width gauge is designed for measuring hole and slot widths and diameters. The feeler gauge leaves check the thickness of slots, gaps, and alignment; each leaf is marked with thickness. Leaves are riveted together in a fan design that folds up for portability.

Starrett Feeler Gauge Sets for Tight Spaces

Image of Product. Front orientation. Feeler Gauges. Starrett Feeler Gauge Sets for Tight Spaces.
To measure thickness in areas where standard feeler gauges don’t fit, these sets have leaves with narrow ends. They're used to check gaps, alignment, and narrow slots. Sets include leaves in a variety of thicknesses that are riveted together in a fan design that folds up for portability. Each leaf is marked with thickness. Leaf-securing locks hold individual gauge leaves in place.
Tool Steel—Tool steel gauges are stronger, harder, and more resistant to scratches and wear than stainless steel gauges.
Stainless Steel—Stainless steel gauges are less likely to rust than tool steel gauges.

Starrett Feeler Gauge Sets for Tight Spaces with Calibration Certificate

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated, MultipleImages. Feeler Gauges. Starrett Feeler Gauge Sets for Tight Spaces with Calibration Certificate.
A certificate of calibration traceable to NIST states that these sets have passed a test for accuracy. They’re used to check small gaps, narrow slots, and alignment. The leaves have a narrow end to measure thickness in areas where standard feeler gauges don’t fit. For example, they can measure gaps when setting engine components such as spark plugs to make sure there’s enough space so friction doesn’t lead to inefficiency.
Sets include leaves in a variety of thicknesses that are riveted together in a fan design that folds up for portability. Each leaf is marked with thickness. Leaf-securing locks hold individual gauge leaves in place.

Check slot widths and hole diameters with the markings on these gauges. Leaves in a variety of sizes are riveted together in a fan design—spread them out for use or fold them in for portability. Each leaf narrows toward the tip to measure a range of sizes. Slide them into a hole until the gauge sits snug and then read the width measurement.
