About Calculating the Airflow Required for Air Cleaning
More
About Sound Levels
Measured in decibels (dB), volume ratings indicate how much noise equipment makes. Some common volume levels include a whisper @ 20 dB, a refrigerator @ 40 dB, a conversation @ 60 dB, and a light machine shop @ 90 dB. OSHA recommends hearing protection for exposure to 80 dB and greater.
Floor-Mount Fume Exhausters
Mount these exhausters to the floor to remove fumes, vapors, and fine dust particles from your space. They are commonly used in welding, soldering, and other operations that create fumes.
Note: Airflow depends on the resistance created by ductwork. This resistance, known as static pressure (SP), is measured in inches of water.
Use open dripproof exhausters in relatively clean, dry, well-ventilated indoor locations.
Totally enclosed exhausters have an external fan for cooling. These exhausters offer more protection than open dripproof exhausters. They can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments, but are not airtight.
Single-duct kits (sold separately) maximize airflow at one fume collection point. They include a hose, a nozzle, and two clamps.
Dual-duct kits (sold separately) create two points for fume collection, although each will have lower airflow than the one collection point of a single-duct kit. These kits include two hoses, two nozzles, four clamps, and a wye connector.

Portable Fume Exhausters
In addition to using the handle to carry these exhausters, you can mount them to a wall, bench, or floor. They remove fumes, vapors, and fine dust particles from your space. They are commonly used in welding, soldering, and other operations that create fumes. All have a totally enclosed motor enclosure, which can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments. They have a flexible hose with nozzle to capture fumes at the source and rubber pads on the base to reduce vibration.
Note: Airflow depends on the resistance created by ductwork. This resistance, known as static pressure (SP), is measured in inches of water.
Single-duct kits (sold separately) include a hose, a nozzle, and two clamps to replace existing components.
Double-duct kits (sold separately) create two points for fume collection, although each will have lower airflow than the one collection point of a single-duct kit. These kits include two hoses, two nozzles, four clamps, and a wye connector.

Chemical-Resistant Blowers
For resistance to chemicals as well as corrosion, these blowers have a plastic housing. They install in ductwork similar to duct fans, but are for use where high static pressures are present. Use them for equipment cooling, material conveying, drying, ventilating, and exhausting. All blowers have a totally enclosed motor enclosure, which can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments.
Note: Airflow depends on the resistance created by ductwork. This resistance, known as static pressure (SP), is measured in inches of water.
PVC plastic housing offers greater chemical resistance than the fiberglass housing. It resists strong oxidizing acids such as sulfuric acid but will not withstand contact with perchloric acid.

Hazardous Location Chemical-Resistant Blowers
These blowers have an explosion-proof motor that is UL listed and CSA certified for Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Group D; and Class II, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups F and G hazardous locations. For resistance to chemicals as well as corrosion, they have a plastic housing. They install in ductwork similar to duct fans, but are for use where high static pressures are present. Use them for equipment cooling, material conveying, drying, ventilating, and exhausting. All blowers have a totally enclosed motor enclosure, which can be used in dirty, dusty, and damp environments.
