Automatic Openers for Roll-Up and Sectional Garage Doors

Image of Product. Front orientation. Garage Door Openers. Automatic Openers for Roll-Up and Sectional Garage Doors.
Also known as jackshafts, these openers will stop and reverse the garage door's downward motion if it encounters an obstruction or the light beam between the opener's sensing switches is interrupted. During a power failure, use the manual chain hoist to move the door. These openers meet UL 325 safety standards for door operators and systems.

Instead of pulling a chain or handle to open your steel roll-up garage door, push a button. These openers come with everything you need to convert your manual door into an automatic one. Simply slide them over your garage door’s drum axle. For smooth operation, they start and stop slowly to prevent the door from lurching and slamming to the ground. Similar to an automatic garage door, they’ll stop and reverse the door if the light beam sensing switch detects an obstruction in its path. Turn on the safety mode to lock the garage door and limit control to a single master remote. If there's a power failure, disengage these openers to manually open the door.
These openers fit most steel roll-up garage doors, also known as rolling sheet doors, with 9 1/2" or 12" door drums. You can mount them on either side of the door. Do not use these openers with sectional or fabric garage doors.

    Remotes

An electric motor rolls these doors up and down to prevent temperature loss, control sound, and keep dust and debris at bay. They’re often used on loading docks and storage room doorways. Made of durable PVC-coated vinyl, these doors won’t rot, tear, or grow mildew. A full-width window lets in light and gives you visibility to the other side of the door to see oncoming traffic.
The panels on these doors are held together by corrosion-resistant breakaway bars. If something collides into these doors, such as a forklift, the bars won’t bend or break. Instead, they release from the track on impact to prevent damage.
Use the included remote controls to open these doors from a distance. Additional remotes are sold separately.
8 Cycles per Hour—Doors with 8 cycles per hour have an internal electric motor. It's already wired to the door, so you only need to connect the included switch to get these doors moving. However, internal motors aren’t as powerful as external motors, so these doors operate at slower speeds. Because these doors only open and close eight times an hour, they’re suitable for use in areas with light traffic. They can be mounted either on the face of a wall or within a door jamb. In a door jamb, they require 8 1/2" of headroom, 8 1/2" of jamb depth, and 5" on each side.
30 Cycles per Hour—Doors with 30 cycles per hour have a powerful external, direct-drive motor, so they operate faster than internal motor doors. Because they can open and close up to 30 times an hour, they’re suitable for medium-traffic areas. However, external motors require more installation space. In addition to a remote, they also have a control box used to open, close, or stop the door. It has a timer you can program to automatically close the door after a set duration. The control box is rated NEMA 4X to seal out dirt, dust, and water from washdowns. A safety sensor at the base of these doors will stop them from closing if an obstruction is detected. Mount these doors on the face of a wall. Sized to be slightly larger than your door opening, they fit over imperfectly aligned doorways without an issue.

Pull a chain (sold separately) to manually open roll-up doors. All of these chain wheels have a machinable hub so you can mill the exact bore size you need.
    Iron—Iron hand wheels are durable.
Aluminum—Aluminum hand wheels have mild corrosion resistance, are lightweight, and are nonmagnetic.
Required Chain—The chain listed is designed for use with these chain wheels—do not substitute other chain. The chain that's not rated with a capacity is for opening, but not supporting, the weight of a door—use it on doors that have independent supports.
