Polyurethane Foam |
Sheets work well between two flat surfaces.
Polyurethane Foam—Polyurethane foam gaskets are covered with either a conductive nickel/copper braided fabric or conductive aluminum foil. A nonconductive adhesive holds them in place. To protect sensitive equipment, they block at least twice as much interference as urethane foam gaskets. Cut these gaskets to length with scissors.
Adhesive Backing—Adhesive-back gaskets stick to flat surfaces.
UL 94 V-0—Gaskets that meet UL 94 V-0 self-extinguish within 10 seconds if they catch fire and won’t spread the fire by dripping.

Half-round gaskets work well in grooves. Use a gasket slightly thicker than the depth of the groove; it will compress to fill the gap.

Gaskets for Ultra-High-Vacuum Flanges

Install these gaskets between two CF flanges—also known as Conflat or UHV flanges—to create extremely tight seals in ultra-high-vacuum systems. Made from 101 copper, these gaskets have virtually no oxygen to outgas, so they won’t cause oxidation or contaminate your system. They also form stronger seals than rubber gaskets. As you bolt the flanges together, sharp inner teeth bite into these gaskets to form an airtight metal-to-metal seal.

Abrasion-Resistant Sealing Tape

A good choice for outdoor applications, this tape has a polyolefin backing to resist wear on roofs, panels, and HVAC components. Eight times thicker than other sealing tape, it can compress to mold around screw heads, rivets, and other protrusions.
