    Coupling Nuts

    Also known as extension nuts, these are commonly used to connect lengths of threaded rod and join threaded parts.

    Rod End Nuts

    Attach these nuts to rods, pipes, and tubes to make pivoting and hinge movements where misalignment is not a concern. They’re often used to control air- and hydraulic-powered arms as well as other components in power transmission systems. Made of zinc-plated steel, these nuts resist being dislodged. They’re heavy, however, and may corrode over time as the plating wears down.

    Inch-to-Metric Male Hex Thread Adapters

    One side inch, one side metric, and a hex in the middle—these handy fasteners connect two female-threaded parts, such as coupling nuts, adapting from inch threads to metric. Tighten with a standard wrench.
    You can also use these adapters to change the gender of a mating part or increase or decrease its thread size. The small sizes work as standoffs, positioning and separating circuit boards and other components in assemblies.
    Zinc-Plated Steel—Zinc-plated steel adapters are a good option in dry environments. The zinc plating prevents the steel from corroding until the plating wears away.
    ASTM A108 and ASTM B633—Adapters that meet ASTM specifications are made from or plated with materials that adhere to specific standards for chemical and physical properties, such as hardness.
