Compare over 50 grades of steel and cast iron to find the right material for you—all with material certificates for traceability.

    Ultra-Machinable Gray Iron Rods

Gray cast iron machines faster with less wear on cutting tools than most types of steel. It also absorbs vibration, so finished parts run quieter than those made of steel. An oversized diameter allows for finishing to your exact requirements. It's often used for gears, pulleys, rollers, and bushings.

    Impact-Resistant Ultra-Machinable Ductile Iron Rods

With a high amount of ferrite, these cast iron rods are easier to machine without cracking than other impact-resistant ductile cast iron rods. Use them to create bushings, gears, pulleys, and pistons. These rods are also known as 65-45-12 ductile iron rods. All conduct electricity. They will become magnetic if exposed to a magnetic field. They’re often used to replace low and medium carbon steel rods.

Gray cast iron machines faster with less wear on cutting tools than most types of steel. It also absorbs vibration, so finished parts run quieter than those made of steel. It's often fabricated into gears, pulleys, rollers, and bushings. This iron can be surface hardened with heat treating for added wear resistance.

Multiple thread channels (also known as thread starts) create faster linear travel than lead screws with a single thread start. The threads have a tight thread fit for accurate, repeatable starts and stops. Pair with a motor in automated motion and positioning applications. To ensure compatibility, please select components that have the same thread direction, thread size, and number of thread starts.

Iron—Iron nuts have good machinability and high strength.
Travel Distance per Turn—Travel distance per turn, also known as screw lead, is the distance a nut moves with one revolution of the lead screw.

Precision Acme Lead Screws and Nuts

Image of ProductInUse. Front orientation. Contains Inset. Precision Lead Screws and Nuts. Precision Acme Lead Screws and Nuts.
Pair with a motor in automated motion and positioning applications. A tight thread fit allows these lead screws and nuts to make accurate, repeatable starts and stops. Also known as single-start and self-locking lead screws and nuts, they have a single thread that runs the length of the screw. The nut travels only when the screw turns, so your system won’t unexpectedly move when the lead screw is at rest. To ensure compatibility, please select components that have the same thread direction, thread size, and number of thread starts.

    Extra-High-Strength Ductile Iron Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Extra-High-Strength Ductile Iron Rods.
Containing more pearlite and less ferrite, these cast iron rods are stronger and harder than standard ductile cast iron. They are resilient and able to withstand repeated stress without breaking. These rods also absorb vibration, so their finished parts run quieter than those made from steel. Use them to create bushings, gears, and pistons. To increase their wear resistance, you can harden these rods through heat treating.

    Ultra-Machinable Gray Iron Sheets

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Ultra-Machinable Gray Iron Sheets.
Gray cast iron machines faster with less wear on cutting tools than most types of steel. It also absorbs vibration, so finished parts run quieter than those made of steel. It's often fabricated into gears, pulleys, and bushings.
