Cut precision keyways. Each tooth’s cutting edge is a few thousandths of an inch larger than the one before. The cutting edges increase until they reach the required size. Broaches are for use in hand and hydraulic arbor presses and are great for maintenance and short-run production operations. They include the required shims to ensure full keyway depth when broaching in multiple passes. A bushing is required (sold separately).

Note: Broaches have a style designation of A, B, B1, C, D, E, or F. For proper fit, broaches, bushings, and shims used together must have the same letter designation.

Titanium Nitride (TiN)-Coated High-Speed Steel—Titanium nitride (TiN) coated broaches offer increased hardness, heat resistance, and lubricity for extended life.

Bushing with Collar	Bushing

Use individual keyway broaches in a variety of arbor hole sizes. Bushings rest inside the arbor hole of your workpiece and act as guides to ensure rigid and accurate keyway cutting.

Bushings for smaller arbor holes are collared for easier handling. The collar rests on top of the workpiece rather than being supported from below.

For Broach Style—Broaches have a style designation of A, B, B1, C, D, E, or F. For proper fit, broaches, bushings, and shims used together must have the same letter designation.

Broach Shims

When broaching in multiple passes, shims are necessary to ensure full keyway depth. Slide them between the broach and bushing to set the depth of the keyway.

Keyseat Broaches

Cut precise notches for machine keys in rotary shafts. Each tooth’s cutting edge is a few thousandths of an inch larger than the one before. The cutting edges increase until they reach the required size. These broaches are for use with Hansford Davis keyseating machine models 4, 5, and 15. They do not require bushings or shims.

Staggered—Broaches with staggered teeth clear more material than standard broaches for a cleaner cut—especially good for longer cuts.

Keyway Broach Sets

Cut precision keyways—these sets include broaches, bushings, and the necessary shims. Each tooth’s cutting edge is a few thousandths of an inch larger than the one before. The cutting edges increase until they reach the required size. Broaches are for use in hand and hydraulic arbor presses and are great for maintenance and short-run production operations.

When broaching in multiple passes, shims slide between the broach and bushing to set the depth of the keyway.

Bushings rest inside the arbor hole of your workpiece. They have a slot that works as a guide for broaches. With bushings, you can use a single broach in a variety of arbor holes. Bushings for smaller arbor holes are collared for easier handling. The collar rests on top of the workpiece rather than being supported from below.

Note: Broaches have a style designation of A, B, B1, C, C1, D, D1, or E. For proper fit, broaches, bushings, and shims used together must have the same letter designation.

Single-Pass Keyway Broaches

Save time by cutting keyways in one pass. These broaches are longer and have thicker teeth than standard broaches, so you won’t need multiple passes or shims. Each tooth’s cutting edge is a few thousandths of an inch larger than the one before. As the broach moves through the material, the increasing size of the teeth gradually shapes the keyway until the final tooth reaches the exact dimensions needed. Since you use these broaches in hand and hydraulic arbor presses, they’re best for maintenance and small-batch manufacturing. A bushing is required (not included).
