Often used in display and landscape lighting, these small bulbs produce a focused beam of light. Bulbs that are 50W or higher are often used in overhead projectors and microscopes. They’re brightest at the center of their beam angle; the edges of the beam are about half as bright. The narrower the beam, the more concentrated the light.

LED bulbs last longer and are more efficient than halogen bulbs. They generate little heat and withstand vibration. Bulbs with a selectable light appearance have a switch that lets you match other lights in your room.
