About Gas Springs
Gas springs are typically used to assist in opening lids, covers, windows, conveyors, and seats—similar to a hatchback opening on a car.

Locking Gas Springs
Protect material and equipment underneath heavy loads—these gas springs lock automatically when fully extended, ensuring they can't be closed until it's safe to do so. They’re often used in critical lift-assist applications such as opening machine guards, access hatches, and storage compartments. Pull on the knob to unlock, allowing the gas spring to compress. Gas springs have a ball socket end fitting and ball stud on each end for mounting. Ball socket end fittings rotate in any direction on the ball stud to compensate for misalignment.
Note: When using two gas springs together in a locking application, use one locking spring and one nonlocking spring.

Reducible-Force Locking Gas Springs
Ensure you have the correct force for your application. These gas springs have a bleed valve so you can release gas to permanently reduce the force to meet your requirements. They're used to protect material and equipment underneath heavy loads—gas springs lock automatically when fully extended, ensuring they can't be closed until it's safe to do so. Press on the overlapping sleeve to unlock, allowing the gas spring to compress in a controlled manner.
Gas springs come charged to their maximum force. Use the included tool to open the valve and bleed off the gas—there's no disassembly required. Release gas in very small increments and then test your application. Once gas is released, the force is permanently reduced. Gas springs have a ball socket end fitting and ball stud on each end for mounting. Ball socket end fittings rotate in any direction on the ball stud to compensate for misalignment.
Note: When using two gas springs together in a locking application, use one locking spring and one nonlocking spring.

Corrosion-Resistant Locking Gas Springs
Automatically locking when fully extended and made of 316 stainless steel to resist corrosion, these gas springs protect material and equipment underneath heavy loads in damp environments. They’re often used to control the force that opens and closes machine guards, access hatches, storage compartments, and other lift-assist equipment. Press on the overlapping sleeve to unlock these gas springs when it’s safe for them to compress. To mount them, each end has a ball socket fitting and ball stud; the fitting rotates in any direction on the stud to compensate for misalignment.
Note: When using two gas springs together in a locking application, use one locking spring and one nonlocking spring.

Remote-Release Gas Springs
Pair one of these gas springs with a release control to stop and release the gas spring anywhere along the stroke with the push of a button or lever. A valve on the rod end controls extension and compression and is operated with a release control (sold separately). Gas springs have a ball socket end fitting and ball stud on one end for mounting. The ball socket end fitting rotates in any direction on the ball stud to compensate for misalignment.
Release controls (sold separately) thread onto the rod end of the gas spring. They have an integral eyelet fitting for mounting the gas spring. Push-button release control requires an eyelet mounting bracket (not included) to mount the gas spring. Lever release control requires a bolt or pin (not included) to mount the gas spring.
