Penetrating Lubricants

Penetrating Lubricants for Chain
For use with roller chain and other moving metal parts, these thin lubricants cut through dirt, grease, and rust, withstand heavy loads, and resist wear.
Lubricants with moly (molybdenum disulfide) withstand high loads and have excellent wear resistance.
Lubricants with boron nitride penetrate into roller chain links and pins while wet—below 120° F it acts as a dry lubricant that won’t attract dust or dirt; above 120° F it acts as a wet lubricant.

High-Pressure Grease
This grease remains stable and in place under high pressure, heavy loads, and shock loads. It's often used for demanding mining, construction, and automotive applications.
NLGI viscosity grade is a rating of a grease's consistency. NLGI 2 is about the consistency of peanut butter.
Weld load measures a grease's ability to withstand pressure in kilograms of force (kgf). The higher the rating, the more pressure the grease can withstand. Synthetic-oil-based grease lasts longer than mineral-oil-based grease and generally withstands a wider range of temperatures.
Grease with lithium thickener offers good heat and moisture resistance.
Grease with moly (molybdenum disulfide) and grease with graphite have excellent resistance to wear and can withstand high-load and high-pressure applications.
Grease that cannot be sold to California exceeds local regulatory limits on VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

NLGI 2 is about the consistency of peanut butter.
Mineral-oil-based grease, derived from petroleum, is usually more economical than synthetic-oil-based grease.

Food Industry Grease
Use this grease in food-processing and preparation areas.
NLGI viscosity grade is a rating of a grease's consistency. NLGI 1 is about the consistency of tomato paste.
Grease that is NSF registered H1 and grease that meets FDA 21 CFR 178.3570 are rated for incidental contact with food. Synthetic-oil-based grease lasts longer than mineral-oil-based grease and generally withstands a wider range of temperatures. Grease with aluminum thickener has good moisture resistance and excellent oxidation resistance.
Grease with PTFE has small particles of PTFE that reduce friction and help the grease maintain its lubricity.

Molykote withstands high loads and has good wear resistance.

Tackier than gear box grease, this grease sticks to open gears and roller chain. It resists moisture for corrosion protection and can lubricate under heavy loads.

Moisture-Resistant Food Industry Open Gear and Chain Grease
Made with moisture-resistant aluminum thickener, this grease resists washing off and reduces corrosion in wet environments while still lubricating under heavy loads. It is NSF registered H1 for incidental food contact. Tackier than gear box grease, it sticks to open gears and roller chain.

Dry-Film Lubricants
These lubricants go on wet for easy application. Once dry, they form a nonstick film that won't attract dust. Use them for general purpose lubricating in most applications.
Lubricants with silicone are clear, have excellent water resistance, and can be used on most rubber and plastic.
DuPont Molykote 557 Silicone Dry Film is often used on blades to keep them sharp longer.
Food Industry Oil
Use this oil in food-processing and preparation areas.
Viscosity is the thickness of an oil. The higher the grade, the thicker the oil, and the less it flows.
