Use them with an impact wrench that has a pin-style socket retainer, or use a socket retaining ring with tools that have a hole- or hole-and-ring-style socket retainer.

    Sockets require a locking retainer. Use with an impact wrench that has a pin-style socket retainer, or use a socket retaining ring with tools that have a hole- or hole-and-ring style socket retainer.
