    CAT Taper Retention Knobs with Coolant Hole

    Knob with Pilot

    Lock tool holders in place on CNC machines with a through-spindle coolant (TSC) system. They fit machines with a CAT taper spindle. All meet industrial standards for tensile and shear strength. Also known as pull studs. Use a torque wrench with a retention knob socket or a changeable-head torque wrench to tighten them.
    To ensure compatibility with your machine, compare the features on these knobs, such as the location of O-ring seals and the pilot design, to those on your current knob.
    Knobs with a pilot ensure precise alignment between the tool holder and spindle, reducing vibration and runout. To upgrade a standard knob to one with a pilot, confirm that the pilot diameter is small enough to fit in your tool holder without touching the inner walls where the knob seats.
    Flange O-Ring Included—Knobs with flange O-rings block external coolant from entering your machine spindle. Match the O-ring placement and style to your current setup to ensure optimal sealing and performance.
    Ground Face—Knobs with a ground face have a tighter seal than those without one, which helps prevent coolant leaks.
    Grip Angle—Grip angle is the sloped part of the knob that the machine grips to secure the tool holder. A 15˚ grip angle is sometimes referred to as a 75˚ grip angle. A 30˚ grip angle is sometimes referred to as a 60˚ grip angle.

    Secure ER collets inside collet chucks and fixtures. Tightening these nuts squeezes the collet around the cutting tool to clamp it firmly in place.
    Low Friction—Low-friction coated nuts tighten more smoothly than standard collet nuts for even clamping and longer tool life. Replace them when the coating wears away.
    Ultra Low Friction—Ultra-low-friction bearing nuts are often used in the highest quality chucks. Instead of a coating that can wear away, these nuts have internal ball bearings for the smoothest and most uniform clamping. The result is a stronger grip, higher accuracy, and longer tool life compared to coated collet nuts. You can take them apart and clean them rather than replacing them.
    External Round Drive—External round nuts don’t have slots that trap coolant or chips. They spin with less resistance than other nuts and excel in high-speed machining operations. Also known as smooth collet nuts.

    Reduce runout and slippage under heavy cutting forces from CNC machines. These chucks have an integrated arbor for a one-piece design that makes them more accurate and compact than chucks with a separate arbor. Made of hardened steel, they resist wear from repeated use. They meet DIN or ISO standards for compatibility across machines with HSK spindles.
    You can route coolant through these chucks to extend the life of your bit and clear chips. To do so, you must install an HSK coolant tube. For automatic tool identification and tracking, these chucks have a hole for a small RFID tag.
    To maximize grip and minimize runout, choose a chuck where your drill bit diameter falls in the middle of the bit shank size range.
    Keyless Chuck—Keyless chucks let you swap bits in and out with a quick twist of the sleeve. As torque increases, their grip will tighten. These chucks only tighten in the clockwise direction, so they may loosen under heavy reverse loads, such as during left-hand drilling. They’re balanced to grade 6.3, so they’re good for most drilling tasks.

    BT Taper Collet Chucks

Their shank is also precision ground to the industry standard AT3 tolerance for a secure fit that minimizes runout in your machine spindle.
