Noncontact Infrared Temperature Sensors
Monitor the temperature of hazardous, sensitive, and hard-to-reach surfaces without touching them. IP or NEMA rated, these sensors are protected against dust and washdowns.
Sensors for nonmetal surfaces measure the temperature of plastics, fabrics, ceramics, and hot adhesives.
Sensors for metal surfaces measure the temperature of both solid metals, such as heating elements, and molten metals.
Sensors with a thermocouple output communicate with devices that read thermocouple signals, so they work as replacements for thermocouples with the same output type.
Sensors with a micro USB cord and terminal block connect to your computer. Use the downloadable software to change the measurement temperature range and the output scale.
Sensors with a close focus lens hone in on small, precise areas. Use them to take the temperature of chips on circuit boards, the tips on soldering irons, and other small components.
Secure your sensor with a mounting bracket or mounting stud. Mounting brackets attach to flat surfaces. Mounting studs thread into holes.
Air purges flush dust, moisture, and other contaminants from the sensor lens to prevent inaccurate readings.

Clamp-On Noncontact Temperature Sensors for Pipe

Check the inside temperature of your pipe from the outside. A good choice for when contamination is a concern, these sensors don’t touch what’s inside your line. They sit on the outside, so they won’t corrode, gunk up, or break from your line's flow. A clamp makes them quick to attach and easy to reposition—there’s no need to drill into your pipe or drain your line. They have internal sensors to record the pipe’s thermal conductivity, which is used to calculate your line’s temperature. The information is sent through a 4-20 mA signal, so you can read the temperature on controllers and data loggers.
Sensors for metal pipe are preconfigured for Schedule 40 stainless steel pipe. They won’t work with plastic pipe.
Sensors for plastic pipe are preconfigured for Schedule 40 PVC pipe. They won’t work with metal pipe.
Use communication cords (sold separately) to calibrate these sensors on your computer when your pipe isn’t the default thickness or material. Download free software and material presets to help you calibrate the sensor. If you know your pipe’s thermal conductivity, you can add another material. The software also lets you monitor and log temperature.

Noncontact Temperature Sensors for Tanks
Take your tank’s internal temperature with these sensors that sit on the outside walls. Since they don’t touch your tank’s contents, they won’t cause contamination or corrode. To attach the sensor to your tank, weld the included studs to your tank's walls, or stick them on your tank using adhesive. Either way you mount them, you don’t need to drill or drain your tank, saving you from scheduled downtime.
These sensors are preconfigured for stainless steel tanks with 1/8"-thick walls. They have internal sensors to record the tank’s thermal conductivity, which is used to calculate your tank's internal temperature. The information is sent through a 4-20 mA signal, so you can read the temperature on controllers and data loggers.
Use communication cords (sold separately) to calibrate these sensors on your computer when your tank isn’t the default thickness or material. Download free software and material presets to help you calibrate the sensor. If you know your tank’s thermal conductivity, you can add another material. The software also lets you monitor and log temperature.

Infrared Thermometer Transmitters
Monitor the temperature of molten steel, furnaces, glass, and other hazardous surfaces without touching them. A built-in transmitter reads surface energy levels and converts them to analog and digital output values that can be read by a receiving device, such as a PLC. Because of this, you can use these transmitters for measuring and switching applications.
Adjust set points, emissivity range, and other settings on-site using the buttons on the transmitters. Connect transmitters to an IO-link controller (not included) to change settings remotely and alert you to errors on PLCs and human-machine interfaces.
Plug these transmitters into shielded M12 sockets since they're extremely prone to signal interference. These transmitters connect using two wires to send a 4-20mA current output and four wires to use the switching output and IO-link. Connect to pin 5 to utilize the test function to verify that the transmitter's signal processing is working correctly. To view transmitter wiring diagrams, select a part number and click Product Detail.
Their lenses resist scratches, which could cause transmitters to lose focus. All are IP-rated for protection against dust and low-pressure jets of water. Made of 303 stainless steel, these transmitters resist corrosion.
Transmitters can be used on all surfaces. For best results when measuring at an angle or working on round or uneven surfaces, use transmitters with laser sight.
Transmitters with a wavelength range of 0.78–1.06 microns are best for use with glass. Use transmitters with a wavelength range of 1–1.7 microns on metal, ceramics, and graphite. Transmitters with a wavelength range of 8–14 microns are useful for plastic, fabrics, food products, and other metal-free surfaces.
Add accessories to protect your infrared thermometer transmitter in hot or dirty environments. Air purges flush out dust, moisture, and other contaminants on transmitter lenses that can interfere with infrared radiation focus and cause inaccurate readings. Cooling jackets connect to a compressed air or water line to keep temperature transmitters from overheating. Protective covers prevent dirt buildup and excessive exposure to light, which can cause transmitters to lose focus. Insulating tubes prevent overheating by protecting thermometers against heat from mounting brackets or other surfaces.
