A light duty alternative to metal, these nylon ratchet gears run quieter than metal gears and have good corrosion and chemical resistance. Used to prevent unwanted motion in spools, clocks, and printers, ratchet gears have sloped teeth that allow motion in one direction and prevent it in the other.
