About Hazardous Location Environmental Ratings

A series of bulb heads are attached to a power cord to provide overhead lighting for jobsites. The cord has a plug on one end and a female connector on the other end, so you can connect multiple strings to illuminate larger areas. These lights have plastic-coated steel guards to protect the bulbs. Use them with medium-base, screw-in LED bulbs.

Lights with a NEMA L5-20 plug turn and lock together for a secure connection.

For lights that are 50 ft. long, use up to a 30W bulb when connecting multiple strings. For lights that are 100 ft. long, use up to a 15W bulb when connecting multiple strings.

Light up large, open rooms where you need a quick setup and takedown, such as a room under construction. Just hang these lights from a ceiling up to 30' high and they’re ready to go. Connect up to 10 lights on a single circuit. The brighter the light, the further you should space them apart. All withstand humidity and moisture, so you can use them where it’s damp.

Lights with an outward beam direction have straight sides, so they’ll direct some light to the ceilings and walls of your facility. Rated IP64, they’re sealed against splashing liquid and dusty conditions.

Lights with a downward beam direction have angled sides, so they’ll direct more light towards the floor than lights with an outward beam direction.

Plug-In Portable Lights

Hang these lights where you need them on the job site.

Style D have a steel guard to protect the bulb from bumps and scrapes. Use them with standard household screw-in LED bulbs. You can plug a power tool or other electrical device into the side of the handle to avoid running another extension cord.

Style E work with a standard household screw-in LED spotlight or floodlight bulb. They have a steel guard to protect the bulb from bumps and scrapes.

Lights with an SJEOW cord resist oil and weather, and they’ll stay flexible in cold temperatures. Lights with an SOOW cord have both an outer and inner insulation that resists oil. They also stand up to weather and abrasion.

Plug-In Portable Lights with Retractable Cord Reels

Keep excess cords out of your way—the reel locks the cord at any length and retracts it when not in use. All of these lights have a hook for hanging when you need both hands for other work.

Style E have a zinc-plated steel guard to protect the bulb. Use them with medium-base, screw-in LED bulbs (sold separately). They double as an extension cord—plug a tool or other device into the outlet on the handle. You can mount them to your wall or ceiling with the included hardware.

Hazardous Location Cordless Freestanding Portable Floodlights

Flood hazardous areas with light—these lights are intrinsically safe, meaning they can’t cause an explosion or fire. Rated NEC Class I, II, III, and Zone 0, they’re safe to use in areas with ignitable concentrations of flammable or combustible gases, dust, and fibers. They’re often used in refineries, mines, and paint booths. Pivot their head up and down to direct light where you need it most. These lights are rechargeable, compact, and include a carrying case for easy transport to jobsites without power.

They’re durable enough to fall from 6 ft. and still work. The edges of the metal body are cushioned with rubber, and the lens is impact-resistant polycarbonate. Rated IP67, they are sealed against dust and water. You can drop them in water, and they’ll keep working. These lights are tested against ANSI/PLATO FL 1 standards to confirm the accuracy of performance attributes such as beam distance, impact resistance, and battery life.

Mount them using the extendable swivel hook on the back or the magnet in the base. The hook also functions as a carrying handle. Add a tripod if there’s nowhere to mount the light and you need to position it higher than on the ground.

Explosion-Proof Portable Lights

Lights

Bring light to explosion-prone work areas. Rated NEC Class I, these lights are safe to use in areas with ignitable concentrations of flammable or combustible gases, vapors, and liquids. The housing of these lights contains fire and sparks, so they don’t ignite what’s in your environment. They’re often used in mines and underground drilling. All also meet NEMA 4X, meaning they withstand spraying liquid, resist corrosion, and keep out dust. Use the hook to hang them where you need them. These lights come with a standard three-prong plug, so electrical connections must be made outside of the hazardous environment. Alternatively, you can add a hazardous location plug.

Style B are rated NEC Class II for use in areas with combustible dust. The guard and hook are made of copper-free aluminum, which minimizes the chance of creating sparks if you drop or bump them. To stand up to frequent use, a tempered borosilicate glass lens protects the bulb and the handle is made of impact-resistant glass.

Hazardous location environmental ratings indicate where manufacturers have included safety features in products to facilitate their safe use in hazardous environments. Before selecting a product for a hazardous location, ensure it is rated for your environment.

Large-Area Plug-In Portable Floodlights

Our brightest plug-in floodlights, these lights illuminate large worksites—about the size of a hockey rink. Rated IP68, they’re dust- and watertight enough to handle being temporarily submerged in water, so torrential downpours and snowstorms won’t be a problem. Tilt the heads and adjust the height of the stand to direct light where you need it.

Style A lights are also known as balloon lights—they cast light in all directions through a fabric diffuser to reach a diameter of 200 ft. For focused light, remove the diffuser. They’re lightweight, weighing just 45 lbs., so you can move them around your site. Yet they’re sturdy enough to withstand winds of 30 mph with the diffuser on and 60 mph with the diffuser off.

Style B lights have four heads that rotate and pivot individually, so you can aim the light up to 160 ft. in whatever direction you choose. Once you raise the lights, you can rotate the mast to direct light. They’re stable enough to stand firm in 45 mph winds thanks to their sturdy steel frame. A single person can maneuver them, even through doorways. You cannot tow these lights. They have a power outlet at the base to plug in a tool or link up a second light.

An extension cord (sold separately) is required to power Style B lights. If you’re powering only one, use a cord with a NEMA 5-15 plug. If you’re powering two of these lights on one circuit or plan to plug in a power tool, use a cord with a NEMA L5-20 plug to power the first light. The light has inlets for both plug types.
