Pierce the insulation of wire without stripping it to make quick connections that are also sealed to keep out water. These splices have termination buttons on each end, so you can make independent connections on both sides. Since you connect each end independently, they’re often used as a disconnect point on equipment that you’ll be moving around. To install these splices, use a pair of pliers to press down on the button until it clicks.

On 2-wire splices, each button comes in one of three colors that correspond with wire gauge, making it easy to match your wire to the right connector.

4-wire splices have two entry points on both ends for twice as many independent connections as 2-wire splices.
