    Tight-Tolerance Air-Hardening A2 Tool Steel Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Tight-Tolerance Air-Hardening A2 Tool Steel Rods.
Precision ground and held to a strict straightness tolerance, these rods are ready for turning in your lathe. Also known as drill rod, this A2 tool steel is more wear resistant than O1 and keeps a sharper cutting edge. It’s air-hardening, so it doesn’t require baths or quenching after heat treatment. This tool steel is often used for punches, blades, and hammers.

    Extra-Hard C2 Tungsten Carbide

Machine long-lasting tools, such as end mills and inserts, with this Tungsten. Tungsten carbide, sometimes called carbide, is harder than our Corrosion-Resistant Tungsten with excellent wear resistance. Its extreme hardness lets cutting edges stay sharp far longer than high-speed steel.

    Tight-Tolerance Ultra-Heat-Resistant M42 High-Speed Tool Steel Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Steel. Tight-Tolerance Ultra-Heat-Resistant M42 High-Speed Tool Steel Rods.
Machine saw blades, end mills, and other cutting tools that stay hard and sharp at top speeds and temperatures. M42 runs faster and hotter than other grades of high-speed tool steel, so it slices through material as tough as titanium without softening or wearing down. Precision ground and held to a strict tightness tolerance, this steel is all set to turn in your lathe. Also known as cobalt steel.

Barbed Dowel Pins with Rounded Head

Image of Product. Front orientation. Dowel Pins. Rounded Head, Barbed Shaft, Standard Tolerance.
Often used in place of rivets, these pins create a finished look while securing plastics and soft metals such as aluminum. The sharp points bite into parts for a permanent hold. Also known as Barb-Lok™ pins.
    Steel
Zinc-Plated Carbon Steel—These pins withstand occasional exposure to moisture. However, since friction from moving parts can wear away the finish, they're not ideal for wet environments. While not nearly as corrosion resistant as stainless steel, they are stronger and won’t deform under stress.

    Tight-Tolerance Extreme-Strength 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Rods

Image of Product. Front orientation. Stainless Steel. Tight-Tolerance Extreme-Strength 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Rods.
Machine high-strength parts that require pinpoint precision. Ready to turn in your lathe, these rods come precision ground to tight tolerances. 17-4 PH stainless steel combines the strength of 400 series stainless steel with 300 series corrosion resistance. Ideal for the most demanding applications, these rods are often used to create fasteners, pipe fittings, and other cylindrical parts. They maintain their corrosion resistance in temperatures as hot as 1100° F. Also known as 630 stainless steel.
Heat Treatment Condition A—The most machinable and formable state of 17-4 PH stainless steel. These rods are a good option when you’re performing your own heat treatment. They can be heat treated to boost their yield strength up to 170,000 psi.
