    Threaded Rods

Anchor, connect, or hang components in a wide variety of applications, from mounting I-beams to suspending light fixtures.
    Medium-Strength Steel
Image of Product. Front orientation. Threaded Rods. Threaded Rods.
With tensile strengths from 110,000 psi to 125,000 psi, these rods are strong enough for most industrial applications, such as anchoring machinery and connecting pipe flanges. They are about twice as strong as low-strength steel rods. To avoid stripped threads during installation, make sure your nuts are also medium-strength steel.
Steel—Best for dry environments since moisture will cause these rods to rust.

With a tensile strength of 150,000 psi, these rods are strong enough to stabilize steel frameworks and structural supports, such as I-beams. They are about 25% stronger than medium-strength steel rods. To avoid stripped threads during installation, make sure your nuts are also high-strength steel.

    Unthreaded Tip

A hex drive on one end allows these adapters to be turned with a hex key for ease of installation. Use them to connect parts with coarse threads to parts with fine threads. They're high-strength black-oxide steel and corrosion resistant in dry environments.
Unthreaded Tip—Adapters with an unthreaded tip thread into nuts more easily, reducing the chance of damaging threads.

    Coupling Nuts

Image of Product. Front orientation. Coupling Nuts. Coupling Nuts.
Also known as extension nuts, these are commonly used to connect lengths of threaded rod and join threaded parts.
    Low-Strength Steel
Rated Grade 2 or lower, these are about half as strong as medium-strength steel coupling nuts. Use them with threaded rods that have a comparable strength rating to avoid stripping threads during installation.
Zinc-Plated Steel—A step up from plain steel, the zinc plating withstands occasional exposure to moisture.
Black-Oxide Steel—A dark, matte coating creates a finished look. Nuts offer minimal corrosion resistance, so they're best for dry environments.
Hot-Dipped Galvanized Steel—Combines the strength of steel with the rust resistance of stainless steel. These nuts are an economical alternative to 18-8 stainless steel in wet and outdoor environments, but they won't hold up to salt water and chemicals. Use with other hot-dipped galvanized fasteners to ensure the threads mate tightly.

Brass—With a warm, polished look, these nuts are often chosen for their appearance. Similar to 18-8 stainless steel, brass is corrosion resistant enough to stand up to wet environments. It is also softer than other metals, so it's easier to thread together.

Threaded on Both Ends Setup Studs

Image of Product. Front orientation. Contains Annotated. Setup Studs. Threaded on Both Ends Setup Studs.
Known as setup studs, these studs withstand sideways forces better than fully threaded studs because they have a strong unthreaded middle. The unthreaded middle also makes more contact with unthreaded holes, creating better alignment than a fully threaded stud.

    Left-Hand Threaded Rods

Turn these rods to the left to tighten. Use them with left-hand nuts to prevent counterclockwise-moving parts from loosening.
    Low-Strength Steel
With a tensile strength of 50,000 psi or 60,000 psi, these rods are often used to suspend light fixtures, cable trays, and conduit from ceilings. They're about half the strength of medium-strength steel rods. To avoid stripped threads during installation, make sure your nuts are also low-strength steel.
Zinc-Plated Steel—The most common choice for areas with occasional exposure to moisture.
Steel—Best for dry environments since moisture will cause these rods to rust.

Vibration-Resistant Threaded on Both Ends Setup Studs

Also known as tap-end studs, inch setup studs have Class 5 friction-fit threads on one end to resist loosening and Class 2A standard threads on the other end for attaching a nut. Metric setup studs have Class SK6 friction-fit threads on one end to resist loosening and Class 6g standard threads on the other end for attaching a nut. They are ideal for machining applications where vibration can loosen clamps. They withstand sideways forces better than fully threaded studs because they have an unthreaded middle that is stronger than the threaded ends. The unthreaded middle also makes more contact with unthreaded holes, creating better alignment than a fully threaded stud. Remove studs with pliers to reuse them.

For maximum mounting flexibility, cut the fully threaded shaft to whatever length you need. Also known as swing bolts and eyebolts, rod end bolts have no moving parts. They're designed to make pivoting or hinge movements in applications that don't need to compensate for misalignment.
