    Cordless Swirl-Free Disc Sanders

    Create a consistent finish on quick sanding jobs where you don’t have access to air or electric power. Also known as random orbital sanders, they move in small irregular circles to leave a more consistent finish than rotary disc sanders. The variable-speed motor lets you set the speed for any task, from heavy material removal to delicate surface sanding. To conform to curves and crevices for a consistent finish, they include a cushioning pad. Use these sanders with hook and loop sanding discs. The battery and charger are also sold separately.

    Cordless Sheet Sanders

    Battery powered for portability, these sheet sanders handle quick jobs where you don’t have access to an air or electric power source. Shaped for rectangular sanding sheets, they reach into corners and sand edges better than disc sanders. They move in small circles for a lighter sand than random orbital sanders and don’t vibrate much, so you can use them on delicate workpieces. However, because they move in consistent circles, they may leave light swirl marks on your surface. The variable-speed motor lets you set the speed for any task, from heavy material removal to delicate surface sanding.
    These sanders have a built-in vacuum to remove dust from the air and surface of the sanding sheet to extend its life. All include a dust collection bag. To make your sanding sheet compatible with the vacuum holes of the sander, use the included sandpaper punch.

    Cordless Narrow-Belt Sanders

    When you can’t access an outlet or air compressor, these battery-powered sanders tackle quick sanding jobs. Often used for smoothing spot welds, the narrow belt squeezes into corners, grooves, and other tight areas. Turn the speed dial with your thumb as you sand to adjust how much material you’re removing. These sanders have brushless motors, which means fewer parts, less friction, and slower wear compared to brushed motors. The LED light illuminates your surface as you work. All require sanding belts.

    Dust Extraction Port—Sanders with a dust extraction port connect to a vacuum system to suck up debris and keep your workspace and the surrounding air clean. Removing dust and debris also prevents clogs that reduce the life of your sanding abrasives. You’ll need a dust collection hose adapter (sold separately) to connect the port to a vacuum system.

    Sand ceilings and walls with the power of an electric pole sander when you don’t have an outlet nearby. These sanders create a more consistent finish than manual pole sanders. The variable-speed motor lets you set the speed for any task, from heavy material removal to delicate surface sanding. Great for quick jobs, the battery lasts about 35 minutes. Additional sanding discs are sold separately.
    To remove dust from the air and extend the life of the sanding disc, hook these sanders up to a vacuum system to collect dust as you sand. If your vacuum is Bluetooth enabled, these sanders can wirelessly start and stop the vacuum when you pull and release the trigger.

These tools have a fast-moving oscillating blade that makes flush and plunge cuts without damaging surrounding material. The speed control lets you slow down the blade for hard materials like metal, or speed it up for soft materials like wood. Choose tools with lower oscillating angles for precise, detailed work; higher oscillating angles are good for faster cutting and grinding.

    Makita—Makita tools start at a slower speed for better control and to prevent the blade from jumping. As you begin your cut, the speed automatically ramps up. When they detect resistance from hard materials, they automatically adjust power to maintain a consistent cutting speed.
