    Clamping Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Clamping Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings, Spiral Cut.

    Spiral Cut

Designed to grip evenly around your shaft, these couplings provide more holding power than set screw couplings without marring the shaft. Tighten the clamping screws to secure.
Spiral Cut—Spiral couplings have long cuts in their body for flexibility to handle parallel, axial, and angular misalignment better than parallel couplings. However, they’re not as rigid. Often used for light duty encoder and stepper drive applications, they allow zero backlash (no play) and never need lubrication. They’re also known as helical beam couplings.
Acetal—Acetal couplings are lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Electrically Isolating Servomotor Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings

Image of Product. Front orientation. Flexible Shaft Couplings. Electrically Isolating Servomotor Precision Flexible Shaft Couplings.
An acetal spacer at the center of these couplings insulates bearings, encoders, and other shaft components from stray electric current. Use them with servomotors, which sometimes generate current that travels down the shaft and can damage circuit boards, interfere with readings, and cause wear on bearing raceways. Like other servomotor couplings, they're good for high speeds, precise positioning, and frequent starts and stops. They have zero backlash, which means they transfer power with no delays or wasted motion. A pair of disc springs—one on each side of the spacer—allow the coupling to flex and accommodate for all types of misalignment. Clamping screws secure both shafts with an even, nonmarring grip.

    Rigid Shaft Coupling Covers

Image of Product. Front orientation. Rigid Shaft Coupling Covers.
Extend the life of your rigid shaft couplings by blocking out dirt, water, lubricants, and other contaminants. These two-piece covers twist together to form a shell around the coupling. Viton® fluoroelastomer O-rings on the threads and around each shaft complete the seal. The outer surface is knurled for a good grip when tightening by hand. Covers are only for use with round, unkeyed shafts.

    Joint

    Pin-and-Block Joint

A good choice when you need accurate and repeatable motion, these U-joints have zero backlash (no play), so there’s no motion lost when your shafts change direction. This keeps machines running smoothly. They’re single U-joints, so they connect and transfer torque between shafts that are misaligned at an angle.
Your shafts’ misalignment will affect the speed and torque the U-joint will be able to transmit. The more the shafts are misaligned, the less speed and torque the U-joint will be able to transmit.
Pin-and-Block Joint—Pin-and-block U-joints work well in most applications since they handle higher torque at lower speeds than joints with ball bearings.
Acetal—Acetal U-joints weigh less than metal U-joints. They protect components in your system from stray electrical currents by blocking the flow of electricity between your shafts.
Set-Screw Shaft Mount—U-joints that connect with set screws don’t require you to drill any holes.
Spring-Pin Shaft Mount—U-joints that connect with spring pins require you to drill holes through both the U-joint and your shafts. Spring pins are not included.
Lubrication Not Required—U-joints that don’t require lubrication are often used with optical devices and other sensitive equipment because they're less likely to attract dust and debris compared to lubricated U-joints. They’re also easier to maintain.
